Valve software, who are the guys responsible for DOTA 2, Half-life, Counter-strike developed Left 4 Dead 2 , and with such a heavy hitting line up of games, it's no surprise that this game is still getting some attention. A prime example of quality over quantity.
Each DLC is free for the PC but costs US$6.99 (560 MS Points) on Xbox 360, with the exception of The Survival Pack, which is free for both versions. Thus far, there have been six downloadable content packs: The Survival Pack (Left 4 Dead). The Passing (Left 4 Dead 2).
In yet another unexpected development from 2020, there's a massive content update available for Left 4 Dead 2. Valve's co-op zombie shooter was originally released in 2009, but the community is still active enough to produce a new content pack dubbed The Last Stand.

The DLC, which is free for PC users—Xbox 360 users have to pay 560 Microsoft Points (around $7.00)—adds the original Left 4 Dead cast to the game, along with three new maps, a couple new weapons, a new zombie type, and Achievement Points.
The Left 4 Dead (Game of the Year Edition) simply bundles together the original game with the Survival Pack downloadable content (DLC) that was released last month. Survival Pack added Versus campaigns to the Dead Air and Death Toll campaigns and a new gameplay mode called Survival.

One difference between the two games is in their approach to story, something that can't be easily charted. Valve has said Left 4 Dead 2 will tie the storyline of its five campaigns together in a story arc, something that the first game largely ignored.
The Last Stand Community Update, or simply The Last Stand Update, is a fourth DLC for Left 4 Dead 2, released on September 24, 2020 and made by the L4D2 community members. It features "The Last Stand" two-map campaign, 20 new survival maps, 4 new scavenge maps, 30 new achievements and much more.

Buy L4D2 is just the same but better. As someone who plays fps games a lot, L4D feels smoother to me, and it's better balanced. L4D2 on the other hand has all the campaigns from the first one, new weapons, new campaigns and more players. If you just want to play campaign with friends or something, get the second one.

The last Campaign is The Passing, which is about 45 minutes if you take your time. The Passing was added as DLC, and takes place between Dead Center, and Dark Carnival. So all together, it's going to take you probably 6 hours to get through all the Valve Campaigns.
