Normal-type Pokémon are affected by Night Shade despite type immunity.
Dark-type Pokémon have resistances to Ghost, other Dark, and Psychic-type Pokémon. But they are vulnerable to Fighting, Bug, and Fairy-type moves.
This is because, it is believed that their souls get "restless", and this causes them to haunt others. Thus, Dark type moves, that symbolise the "evil" aspect of the Pokemon, are super-effective against Ghosts.
Since Steel-type Pokémon no longer resist Ghost-type attacks in Generation VI, Ghost is tied with Dragon for the least resisted type, being resisted by Dark and ineffective against Normal.
For instance, Ghost-type Pokémon are immune to Normal-type attacks and strong against Poison-type attacks, so a Pokémon using a Normal-type attack will do less damage than a Poison-type attack of the same strength.
A drawback of Psychic-type moves is that they do not affect Dark-type Pokémon, although this immunity can be removed with Miracle Eye. The immunity, along with resistances to Psychic, can also be circumvented with coverage moves such as Ground- or Fighting-type attacks.

There is no type that Normal is super effective against. At the same time, Normal has no resistances, but does have one immunity. The only type that Ice resists is Ice itself. Ground and Fighting have the most types that they are super effective against, with 5.
