This year, Northeastern received over 62,000 applications for undergraduate admission. As we enroll approximately 2,800 students each fall, we have far more competitive applicants than we have space to admit. The waitlist serves as an opportunity for interested students to be admitted if space becomes available.
Yes, all students interested in remaining on the waitlist must accept their waitlist offer. If Northeastern is your first choice, we encourage you to respond to the waitlist offer as soon as possible, but no later than May 1.
To put it more simply, if a college wants to enroll 2000 students for its freshman class and only 1950 students accept the offer of admission, then the college will turn to the waitlist to fill the gap of those 50 students. Therefore, colleges create waitlists to ensure that they can fill their freshman class.
Does Rice have a waitlist? Yes, we do. This list is reserved for students in whom the admission committee is very interested. A Rice offer of waitlist is one of the decision responses students may receive by April 1.
Both BU and BC are outstanding universities, and it depends on your major and interests which to attend. BU is larger and has a wider variety of programs, has a medical school, and is probably known for its science and engineering. BC has an excellent nursing school, and BU does not offer that major.

By completing only the FAFSA, Boston College is not able to determine your eligibility for institutional need-based grants. In order to be considered for all institutional need-based aid as well as all federal and state aid, you must complete the FAFSA and additional forms, if applicable to your situation.
