When to replace toner cartridgesIf you need high quality prints that are suitable for clients or customers, you'll want to replace your cartridges as soon as you notice they're running low. This will avoid the fading, discoloured, or streaky prints that are typical of the end of the cartridge.
Most of the time you can continue to print as your toner is low and not totally run out. When you start to notice low coverage and spots across the paper, you know your toner cartridge has been depleted and you're ready to get a new one.
Set grayscale print properties (Windows)
- In your software application, click Print.

How Do You Trick HP Ink Cartridges?

The message "Replace Toner" is intended to alert you that the toner cartridge has reached the end of its expected life. It is recommended that the toner cartridge be replaced. To clear the "Replace Toner" message, install a new genuine Brother TN420 or TN450 toner cartridge.
Replace the Toner Cartridge
- Make sure the machine is turned on.
- Open the front cover.
- Remove the toner cartridge and drum unit assembly from the machine.
- Push down the green lock lever and take the toner cartridge out of the drum unit.
- Unpack the new toner cartridge.
- Remove the protective cover.
If your toner cartridges aren't installed correctly, it can prevent your printer from functioning properly. Diagnosis: A toner cartridge is ajar, stuck inside the printer, or otherwise improperly inserted. The most likely fix for this problem is to take the cartridge out. If it's empty, replace it with a new cartridge.
The No Toner message appears if the toner cartridge or the toner cartridge and drum unit assembly is not installed correctly. Remove the toner cartridge and drum unit assembly. Remove the toner cartridge from the drum unit, and reinstall the toner cartridge back in the drum unit.
HOW TO RESET A BROTHER TN-630 AND TN-660 CARTRIDGE?
- Open the front door of the toner compartment.
- The printer screen should read "The front cover is open".
- Press the "Clear" key on the front panel of the printer.
- The printer will say: "Replace the drum?"
- Do not press 1 here, but type "* 00" on the keyboard.
- The display shows "Accepted".
Press the “Go” button 2 times – The “Toner, Drum, and Error” LEDs will turn ON. Press the “Go” button 6 times for a TN420 or Press the “Go” button 7 times for Brother TN450. Close the front cover after “Error” LED starts to flash. Finally, The reset procedure has been completed.
When the low ink warning appears, press and hold the STOP/RESET or RESUME button on the printer for 10 seconds. This button will flash with an orange light when the warning pops up, so it will be relatively easy to find. If you get a warning on your computer or LCD screen, just press or click OK to carry on printing.
Take the toner & drum unit out of the machine. Press the Start button.
- Open the front cover of the printer.
- Press the Clear / Back button.
- Press the * button.
- Press the 0 button.
- Press the 0 button.
- Close the front cover.
- This will clear the 'Toner Low' error and allow for continuous printing.
