Registered. Unlike pretty much all other BMWs there's no speed limiter.
The standard BMW control for the limiter option is as easy to use as the cruise control. Single button to activate and then same controls to set the speed as with cruise. Again "mash" the throttle to override at any time and same button to resume. If I remember from the test drive those same buttons are there.
BMW X3 / BMW X3 iDrive Owners Manual / Controls / Displays / Computer / Speed limit. Display of a speed limit which, when reached, should cause a warning to be issued. The warning is repeated if the vehicle speed drops below the set speed limit once by at least 3 mph/5 km/h.
BMW Head-Up Display projects data directly into the driver's line of sight, allowing drivers to keep their attention on the road and to process information up to 50% faster. BMW models equipped with BMW Night Vision can leverage the BMW Head-Up Display to alert you when pedestrians are in the road as well.
Go to your iDrive navigation view, open the settings menu and scroll down to Navigation system version. You will see the region, map version and year of your current map. If it's more than a year old, it's time to update.
Sat navs with speed camera locationsSat nav speed camera detection is just as effective as the bulk of dedicated products available. It can also be more cost effective, as the sat nav you already have may be capable of detecting speed cameras.
Many TomTom navigation devices can show you the speed limit for the road you are currently travelling on. The speed limit is shown next to your current speed. Information about speed limits is not available for all roads. Always check the speed limit for the road you are on.
How accurate is GPS for speed measurement? As with positioning, the speed accuracy of GPS depends on many factors. The government provides the GPS signal in space with a global average user range rate error (URRE) of ≤0.006 m/sec over any 3-second interval, with 95% probability.
Most of the more affordable in-car sat navs, such as Navigon and Medion devices, get their live traffic information supplied free via the Traffic Message Channel (TMC). Run by Trafficmaster , the data is sent over the FM radio band and decoded by the sat nav to provide verbal or visual traffic alerts.
Distracted drivers are the leading cause of road traffic accidents in the UK. In short, studies have shown that Sat Navs are increasing distracted driving and making the roads more dangerous.
Bad satellite signals and signal interference are some of the most common glitches and happen when something gets in the line of sight between your GPS device and the satellite network. Without a clear and strong signal, your device can't accurately establish your location.
Below we take a look at 5 of the best sat nav apps available on the market:

- Apple Maps - Apple Devices.
- CoPilot Premium HD Europe - Apple and Android Devices.
- TomTom GO Mobile App - Apple and Android Devices.
- Waze - Apple and Android Devices.
Waze – Best buyAs a result, we couldn't ignore other nav apps with good speed-cam alerts. Waze works brilliantly, taking feedback from its many users to warn of manned speed cameras with two taps of the screen. It links with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay seamlessly, too.
Speed Limiter RemovalThe limiter is often applied as a gentleman's agreement amongst car manufactures or by customer choice e.g. Most BMW and Mercedes vehicles have a factory set speed limiter of 155 MPH / 250 KMH. Most speed limiters can be removed by visiting one of our authorised agents.
The LIM button is on the steering wheel. It is the speed limit button. What it does it will slow down your car to the limit that it is set. For example if it is 20 the car will only go 20 miles per hour. Even if you press the accelerator it maintains the speed to 20 miles.
BMWs equipped with standard Active Driving Assistant can be optioned with a Driving Assistance Professional Package. It includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, active collision avoidance for the blind-spot warning system, front cross-traffic warning, and Active Driving Assistant Pro.
A speed limiter is a governor used to limit the top speed of a vehicle. For some classes of vehicles and in some jurisdictions they are a statutory requirement, for some other vehicles the manufacturer provides a non-statutory system which may be fixed or programmable by the driver.
