It's taken its time but Star Wars Battlefront now has its first proper offline mode. Skirmish lets you take on bots solo or with a friend in split screen across both the Fighter Squadron and Walker Assault game modes. Server maintenance has now finished on PS4 and PC and Xbox One maintenance is currently ongoing.
Sure, you can play the multiplayer offline, but it's pretty simple unless you really ratchet the difficulty up. Additionally, the single-player story is just okay, but there's a much better game available for those who want a really good Star Wars campaign.
From the sounds of EA's press release, it should be available for anyone to play - however, those who pre-order the game will gain early access to the test and be able to try out Battlefront II before anyone else.
