Customer Review. I have used Roku for years, including several different models. The best new thing of note is Roku has recently released The Roku Channel, which has hundreds of free movies. It is ad supported. And now Locast.org app gives you free local broadcast stations CBS,NBC,FOX,ABC and PBS.
Stream top free or paid programming from services like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, Google Play, HBO, SHOWTIME, PBS, and The Roku Channel. Thousands more channels for sports, news, international, and kids programming plus broadcast channels like ABC and CBS.
You'd have to purchase either a Roku per TV or move it from TV to TV. The Roku players can be connected to only one TV at a time. Roku players have only one connectivity port (HDMI/USB) to connect to a TV. If you watch one TV at a time then you can simply plug out the Roku player from TV and Plug it in in another TV.
You can watch select local content for free on a range of Roku channels from both national and independent providers. Some streaming options require a subscription. Local streaming channels aren't available in all markets.
Roku's extensive Channel Store includes 1,800+ channels, but what exactly can you stream for free? Well, a lot! Today hundreds of Roku channels are free including YouTube, Pandora, PBS, PBS Kids, Hasbro, Crackle, VEVO, CrunchyRoll, Baeble, Popcornflix, Smithsonian and much more.
In select cities, you can watch your local channels for free using the Locast app or by visiting locast.org. The Locast app is available for your Android or iOS smartphone or tablet, laptop, Amazon Fire device or Roku device.
If you're shopping for a new TV, a Roku TV is a great value and an easy way to access your favorite entertainment. Roku TVs offer paid channels including Hulu, Prime Video, Netflix, HBO, and SHOWTIME, as well as free options like The Roku Channel, The CW, Crackle and more.

- Prices are lower than competitors because Sling wants you use an antenna for local channels.
- Bundling is still alive-and-well.

- The pain associated with still paying DISH for something.
It requires a broadband home internet connection of at least 5.0 megabits per second (25 Mbps or higher is recommended). Instead of a cable box, you'll watch on a TV-connected device, like a streaming stick or box, Smart TV or game console that runs the free Sling TV app.

How Sling TV Works. Sling TV provides you with on-demand access to a select number of channels for $20 per month. There are some taxes and fees added one, but I was paying about $23 per month after those were added on. There are currently 24 channels you can access for the $20 price tag.
Sling TV offers a good deal for an affordable price; its add-on packages offer flexibility, and its largest plan is still cheaper than YouTube TV. If you want more channels, including locals and premiums, and unlimited DVR recording, YouTube TV is the way to go.
When you take price into account, Philo unquestionably has the edge on Sling. Its channel lineup is arguably better than Sling Orange for $10 less per month. You can't say the same about Sling's Blue package, but it's hard to argue that the extra $10 for Sling is worth the extra channels.
Watching SLING TV On Multiple DevicesYou can watch SLING on all of your favorite compatible devices. If you subscribe to our SLING Blue service you can watch on up to three screens at one time. Any extras you add to your SLING Blue service will be included in your three streams.
If you're hoping to replace your cable box in favor of a Roku device on Comcast's Xfinity cable service, you're more than welcome to do so. Comcast announced this week that Roku owners could now use those set-top boxes instead of the traditional cable boxes to access Comcast content.
