vans are probably fine most places, but might get you bumped from like an NYC club, or a vegas club that's full up on bros and busy. Nice leather boots are always legit, though (my 1k's get plenty of abuse this way, and they clean up nicely). Depends on the club. Some don't allow sneakers or jeans.
Trainers don't cause as much damage as dress shoes because of the soft soles. Trainers are way more comfortable allowing you to have a more enjoyable night and experience at the club in which case you're more likely to go back.
Look for shoes made of polished leather, but avoid pointy toes or square toed shoes, as these styles aren't considered stylish. Avoid athletic wear or athletic shoes. Though not all clubs have very formal dress codes, most clubs will not allow anyone wearing athletic shoes or athletic wear to get past the doormen.

If you are sick and tired of all those funky and glamour shoes, then I recommend buying ankle-strap heels. These shoes will provide you with a great support. If you are a petite girl, then I recommend wearing nude color ankle-strap heels. The next pair of clubbing friendly shoes is platform stilettos.

- Jeans can be uncomfortable if you tend to sweat in the club, so avoid them.
- If you have a hard time walking in sky high heels, wear your favorite pair of heeled boots or low heels instead.
