If you need to send the file to someone, zipping it often helps reduce Rhino file size significantly. If you haven't already created the file, and you will be having lots of identical objects in it, using blocks may help keep file size down. See the Rhino Help for more on using blocks.

To render within SketchUp and see a model as a high-resolution photorealistic image you will need to download and install a SketchUp rendering extension. You will be amazed at your customer's reactions when you show them a rendering of your 3D designs with lighting, shadows and reflections providing depth and realism.

rhino is very easy to learn and there are tons of free online resources available to help you get started.
That's not all, because Rhinoceros is a CAD software commonly used for architecture, marine design, jewelry design, automotive designs, CAD / CAM, reverse engineering, product design, as well as multimedia and graphic design industries.
3DS files contain polygon mesh objects. Polygon mesh objects import into Rhino as polygon mesh objects. They do not convert to NURBS. Rhino can read texture mapping coordinates from 3DS files.
