Is UCAS Clearing first come first serve? UCAS Clearing does work on a first come first serve basis, which is why it can often be an anxious time for prospective students who are submitting an application.
Most universities that have course vacancies during Clearing will be prepared to accept you if your grades are below their entry requirements as long as you sound passionate and are right for the degree subject. However, don't despair if you're more than one grade away.
Most of the Clearing process happens over the phone - it's only the last step that requires a Clearing number and the 'Add a Clearing Choice' button on UCAS Track. If you had to be released by either your firm or insurance, you will need to wait for confirmation that this has been done, which may take up to 2 weeks.
You can apply for one choice at a time through Clearing. Once a choice has been selected, you cannot add another, unless you've been unsuccessful with the first one.
Be polite, calm and positive about your plans and future ambitions. 7. Make sure you have researched each university before you call them. The staff you speak to will want to confirm that you have made an informed decision to study there, and not just chosen them out of desperation.

Can I apply to a university that rejected me through Clearing? Yes you can still apply, but be organised. As long as there are still spaces available on courses at that particular university, you can still apply there.
If you waltzed through your undergrad, you may still find a masters degree a shock to the system. They require a lot more independent work, a thesis (a more tricky dissertation) and a lot of independent research. If you are prone to stress under pressure, then a masters may not be the right decision for you.
Postgraduate courses are 'harder' than undergraduate courses. Your modules will be set at a higher credit level, you'll be expected to carry out much more independent study and preparation and your dissertation will be a much more substantial task. Yep. It's definitely harder.

Postgraduate admissions guidelines vary by course and university, but can be quite flexible. Your existing qualifications will be important, but you don't necessarily need a great Bachelors degree to apply for a Masters. Your personal circumstances and experience may also be considered during the applications process.
A PhD takes twice as long as a bachelor's degree to complete. The average student takes 8.2 years to slog through a PhD program and is 33 years old before earning that top diploma. By that age, most Americans with mere bachelor's degree are well into establishing themselves professionally.

UCL does not have any Adjustment or Clearing vacancies.
LSE will not be participating in Clearing or Adjustment for 2020 entry.

Nursing is a relatively competitive course option for Clearing because students who have failed to get on medicine-based courses such as Midwifery often use Nursing as a backup subject choice.
The University of Cambridge doesn't enter Clearing and so has NO COURSE VACANCIES through Clearing. Further information about Clearing is available from the UCAS website.
UCL will not accept any students with a C grade at A Level, and UCL does not participate in clearing.

The answer is yes! But compared to other degree disciplines, clearing for medical schools is a much smaller operation – generally only around 100 or less of the 10,000 places on offer are filled in this way.
In order to be eligible for Clearing, you must have paid the full £24 UCAS application fee - which you should have done already, unless you only paid £11 and made a single choice, in which case you will need to pay a further £11.
How to prepare for Clearing and Adjustment
- Research universities and courses. In the run up to Clearing and Adjustment, do some research online and write down a list of course options.
- Consider alternative courses. Have a think about other options in case your initial plan or shortlist falls through.
- Prepare for an interview (if needed)
- Stay calm.
You've just missed your predicted gradesThis is known as a 'changed course offer', which you'll need to accept or decline. If you just missed out on your grades by a few marks or intend to appeal any grades, you may be able to ask your firm choice to reconsider if they haven't accepted you.
You have 14 days – starting on the date the automatic decline was recorded – in which the automatic decline can be swapped. Please call us in these 14 days to resolve this. After 14 days, it may still be possible, but we will need permission from the universities you want to accept offers from before we can do so.
The answer is yes. If you apply to us through Clearing without UCAS then it is known as 'record of prior acceptance'. Although you are not applying through UCAS, we will be expecting a personal statement, application form, a school reference and any achieved grades, and you have to send this directly.
Clearing only allows one choice at a time. Once a choice has been selected, they can't add another unless they've been unsuccessful with the first one. If they want to apply elsewhere once they've added a choice, they'll need to ask that university to cancel their place – then they can apply again through Clearing.
