The Patch tool lets you repair a selected area with pixels from another area or a pattern. Like the Healing Brush tool, the Patch tool matches the texture, lighting, and shading of the sampled pixels to the source pixels. You can also use the Patch tool to clone isolated areas of an image.
A marquee is the roof-like overhang at the doorway of a hotel or theater, often holding a sign. A marquee is a theater sign or canopy that protrudes above a building's entrance. Movie theaters and performing arts theaters can have marquees, as can hotels and many other buildings.
The move tool allows you to move a selection or entire layer by dragging it with your mouse or using your keyboard arrows keys. The move tool is located at the top right of the Photoshop Toolbox. By default, if an area is selected the selection will be moved, otherwise the whole layer will be moved.
The Single Row Marquee Tool creates one pixel high and all image wide row selections: To select a row In the Toolbox, select the Single Row Marquee Tool and click on the image. While New selection option choosen on the Options bar by creating new selection you delete existing selection.
Hold the Ctrl key (Command on the Mac) and you can drag on a corner of the shape to distort it. Press Enter or Return to commit the transformation and remove the handles. You can now continue to work with the marquee selection.
Well, PS developers felt your pain and they created a cool shift key function that will draw a straight line for you. This will work with any tool in Photoshop that involves a brush. All you have to do is click your first point, hold down the shift key, then click your second point and BAM.
There are three different types of Lasso tools available on Photoshop: the standard Lasso, Polygonal and Magnetic. They all allow you to make image selections, but they use different methods to help you achieve the same end goal.
The Ellipse Tool creates elliptical shapes and paths (shape outlines). Create new shape layer - to create every new shape in a separate layer. Add to shape area - to create mutiple shapes in the same vector shape layer. Subtract from shape area - to subtract shapes from the current shape layer.
The Magic Wand. The Magic Wand lets you select areas of color by clicking rather than dragging. It's in the same toolset as the Quick Selection tool, and you can grab it by pressing Shift-W (it looks like a wizard's wand, as shown back in Figure 4-7).
From the toolbar, click and hold the Shape tool ( ) group icon to bring up the various shape tool options — Rectangle, Rounded Rectangle, Ellipse, Triangle, Polygon, Line, and Custom Shape.
Here's how to use it.
- Open the image you want to edit in Photoshop.
- Select the marquee tool in the Photoshop toolbar.
- Select an area of the image to work with.
- To move the selection while you're still creating it, hold down the spacebar and drag the mouse; the selection will move instead of resizing.
The Lasso group of tools allow you to make freeform selections. Photoshop offers three Lasso tools: the Lasso tool itself (which many call the regular Lasso to distinguish it from the others), the Polygonal Lasso tool, and the Magnetic Lasso tool.
The Lasso tool is helpful for drawing a free-form border around a selected object within an image. It allows you to soften the edges of your selection or add a feathering effect; it's also useful for anti-aliasing.
Select the Rectangular Marquee tool from the Tools panel. You can also use the keyboard shortcut — press the M key. Click and drag from one corner of the area that you want to select to the opposite corner. While you drag, the selection marquee appears.
The Marquee tool allows you to select areas of your image (or the whole image) so that you can edit or modify that area. It can also be used for copying sections from one part of the image to the other or making a stamp. Also, the marquee tool has a flyout so you can choose different shapes.
Selection tools are designed to select regions from the active layer so you can work on them without affecting the unselected areas. Each tool has its own individual properties, but the selection tools also share a number of options and features in common.
What will happen if you hold the Ctrl key while transforming a text? It will transform the text from right and left at the same time. It will transform the text from top and bottom at the same time.
