The app cache (and how to clear it)
- Open the Settings of your phone.
- Tap the Storage heading to open its settings page.
- Tap the Other Apps heading to see a list of your installed apps.
- Find the application you want to clear the cache of and tap its listing.
- Tap the Clear cache button.
Unfortunately, once a message has been deleted by the sender, there is no way to retrieve it. This was confirmed in early 2018 by Discord's engineers on their official Twitter account. For one, storing deleted messages would be against the rules of the platform and would breach the privacy of its users.
Open any mailbox, then click on the Closed folder from the left-hand sidebar. Scroll to the bottom of the Closed folder, then click on the Recently Deleted link. Copy Image / Save Image As for Desktop Client. Currently, on the desktop client of discord, to copy a picture you either right click it and copy the link or open original to copy/save the picture.

Steps
- Log in to Discord on Google Chrome.

So no, closing a DM on Discord doesn't remove the messages from both sides. You can delete your own messages individually, but not theirs.
