To be a part of something biggerAlso, sororities give back to the community. Every sorority has a philanthropy and they organize events every semester to help raise money for a better cause. So, you basically meet a lot of people and have fun while giving back to the community.
Mutual selection starts with the Panhellenic Council looking at your rankings and the score the sororities gave each potential new member. If you vote to keep the sorority AND you are on the top of the sorority's list, you will be invited back.

“Mutual selection process”: The computer program that most big schools use to match PNMs to houses. After each round of recruitment, the PNMs rank the houses they went to in order of preference, and the sororities will rank the PNMs in terms of preference.
Most PNMs who are cut after Round One are cut due to a lower GPA. Yep, that's right. GPA. Sororities are scholarship and community service oriented, and GPA is the oftentimes the first qualifier for an invitation to Round Two.
A suicide bid (aka single preference vote) is when a PNM chooses to put down only one sorority after the preference round of recruitment. This means if you don't get a bid from that house, you will be cut from the entire process. All your eggs are in one basket, which is a very risky scenario to be in!
Bid day is the final day of recruitment and can have several different outcomes: the PNM could receive a bid from her top choice, receive a bid from one of the other chapters she visited on preference night, not receive a bid, or receive a phone call offering a snap bid.
