A cut song from The Muppet Christmas Carol has been found, and has been reinstated. Director Brian Henson explained that a song titled 'When Love Is Gone' was cut from the original release as Disney deemed it “too sophisticated emotionally” for young viewers, as Scrooge sings to his fiancée Belle.
Henson told BBC Radio 2 he was "excited" and "happy" that When Love Is Gone could again be heard in forthcoming versions of his film. The ballad is sung to a young Scrooge by his fiancée Belle in the 1992 reworking of the classic Dickens story. It was removed as Disney felt it wouldn't appeal to young viewers.
Why was the song removed? Henson explained to Radio 2 that it was felt at the time, that the film didn't warrant a love ballad “because there is no loving relationship that we can celebrate in that movie So the love ballad is when Belle is leaving Scrooge.”

Several Muppet properties may be missing due to rights issues involving music clearances; the original Muppet Babies also features lots of footage from classic movies, which could make streaming rights a thorny legal issue.
Disney pursued the Jim Henson Company as far back as the late 1980s, when Michael Eisner wanted to bring in the Muppets, as well as the characters from Sesame Street. Disney did buy the Muppet characters in 2004, but it took seven years for that purchase to produce a new feature film.
Due to this, it is one of three Muppet films (along with Muppets from Space and the direct-to-video feature Kermit's Swamp Years) whose home video distribution rights are still controlled by Sony Pictures, and not the Walt Disney Studios. Therefore, it is not available for streaming on Disney's Disney+ service.
