Caution: Although Sheep and Goats may be allowed to enter through any port in the State, prior authorization is required to ensure Hawaii Department of Agriculture, Animal Industry inspection services are available at the port. Inspection services are not available at every port in the State.
The mongooses found in Hawai'i are native to India and were originally introduced to Hawai'i Island in 1883 by the sugar industry to control rats in sugarcane fields on Maui, Moloka'i and O'ahu. Mongooses can live in both wet and dry conditions including gardens, grasslands, and forests.
Currently, Hawaii feral pigs have occupied every Island in the Hawaiian state. The main Hawaii Island, KahoOlawe, Molokai, and Oahu islands have had feral pigs' infestation and are now still abandoned with feral pig population (HEAR, 2003).
Black Hawaiian Sheep and mouflon hybrid sheep also live in high elevations on the slopes of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa volcanoes in some of the most beautiful upland forests that Hawaii has to offer. Sheep can be hunted with a rifle or archery equipment, using spot and stalk techniques.
Feral goats now occur across 28 per cent of Australia. They can be found in all states and territories and on some offshore islands, but are most common in the rocky or hilly semi-arid areas of western New South Wales, South Australia, Western Australia and Queensland.
All of our Big Game hunts are offered year round however the best months for Axis Deer are April-Sept as they are hard antlered in Hawaii during this time. Bird hunting is offered Nov-Jan.

1. Poi. The staple and traditional filler starch dish in Hawaiian cuisine is something known as poi. Poi is a thick paste made from taro root (similar to a yam or potato but with a starchy-er flavor) that is either steamed or baked and pounded.

Goats will eat a wide variet of plant species including many weeds and palatable portions of certain shrubs and trees. A lit of 77 species of plants eaten by goats in Hawaii has been compiled. About thirty percent of the plants listed are classified as noxious plants or Hawaiian weeds.

Hawaii boasts eight different big game species: Axis Deer, Black Buck, Spanish Goat, Hawaiian Ibex, Black Hawaiian Sheep, Mouflon, Vancouver Bulls & Wild Boar.
The deer have the ability to survive in extreme conditions — from monsoons to droughts — and are capable of eating various plants, including the bark off hardwood trees. Axis deer were first introduced to Molokai and Oahu in 1868, Lanai in 1920 and Maui in 1959.
Axis Deer on Big Island, Hawaii A New Threat to Native Birds, Agriculture, Natural Resources. The deer, which can reach up to 250 lbs. were first introduced to Moloka'i and O'ahu in 1868, Lana'i in 1920, and Maui in 1959.
Non-native browsing animals (1700s–1950):Sheep, goats, and cattle were introduced to the Island of Hawai'i in the late-1700s by European explorers. Before this there were no grazing or browsing mammals anywhere in the islands.
The United States. In the 1860s, axis deer were introduced to the island of Molokai, Hawaii, as a gift from Hong Kong to King Kamehameha V. The deer were introduced to Lanai, another of the Hawaiian Islands, soon afterward and are now plentiful on both islands.
A valid Hawaii hunting license is still required for all hunting in the state, and the resident and non-resident licenses are for sale at this site. The cost is $10 for residents and $95 for non-residents.
A tag fee will be assessed at the time of hunter check-in. Hawai'i residents will be assessed $20.00 and non-Hawaii residents, $125.00 for each Axis deer tag.
You can hunt on any of the six major islands in the state of Hawaii: Kauai, Oahu, Maui, Molokai, Lanai, and the big island of Hawaii. Each of these islands has one or more state-designated public hunting areas (called Hunting Units), which are open for hunting at certain times during each year.
It originated on the islands of Corsica, Sardinia and Cyprus, but has been introduced in much of Europe and to the Hawaiian Islands as well. The Mouflon were introduced to Hawaii in the 1960s and are about the size of a medium sheep with the weight range of 55-120 pounds.
On the Big Island the most recently introduced wild ungulate is the Mouflon Sheep. Originating from Asia Minor, Mouflons were brought to this island in the early 1950′s. Beginning in 1962 Mouflon were crossbred with feral sheep and released onto the slopes around Mauna Kea.
