Choosing which region of Vietnam is best for you should be based on your tastes and interests. If you want lively hustle and bustle then head to Ho Chi Minh. Prefer a more relaxed atmosphere then Hanoi is for you. Want to relax on a beach, we'd suggest the South.
All in all, Vietnam is an extremely safe country to travel in. The police keep a pretty tight grip and there are rarely reports of muggings, robberies or sexual assaults. Scams and hassles do exist, particularly in Hanoi, HCMC and Nha Trang (and to a lesser degree in Hoi An).

The best time to visit the city is from February to May. During this period, Da Nang weather sees sunny skies and low humidity levels, so you can explore on foot or motorcycle taxi. Da Nang's beaches offer an average water temperature of 25°C. You can soak up the sun and enjoy beach games during this time of the year.
June overviewJune is still a good month to travel in Vietnam despite it being a slightly mixed bag in terms of weather. The centre of Vietnam has now hit peak temperatures and remains dry and bright.
In July, the average temperature in Cambodia hovers around 27°C, making this month warm but not unbearably hot. In Phnom Penh, temperatures reach highs of 32°C and lows of 24°C at night, with around 40mm of rain expected over the course of the month.
