According to a recently released Trip Advisor index, out of 20 popular North American ski destinations, Park City is among the most expensive. Salt Lake City, the only other Utah destination on the list, was listed as the cheapest ski town destination, roughly $238.58 in total.
As Utah's best-known ski town, Park City boasts a small-community feel and is the perfect base for big-time adventure. Whether you visit in summer or winter, the historic mining town offers attractions for everyone, from top-notch dining options to even bobsledding.
Park City is a very casual town. Jeans and a nice shirt/sweater will get you just about anywhere. If you dress up East Coat style people will look at you strangely. Personally, if I go to one of the top restaurants for dinner, I wear nice slacks and a summer top or a summer dress with a sweater.
Park City is known for three things: skiing, snowboarding and the Sundance Film Festival. Located 35 miles southeast of Salt Lake City, Park City is easily accessible and home to a wide range of accommodations that attract throngs of vacationers during the winter season.
For when you want to give your ski legs a break, or just try something new, consider the following:

Though Park City has had some late-starting winters lately, it typically begins to lightly snow in late November. The snow will usually stay until early April, which coincides with Park City Mountain Resort's normal ski season.

Salt Lake City — the urban heart of the metropolitan Wasatch Front is just a 40 minute canyon's drive away. Other destinations on the Wasatch Back include the alpine splendor and access to endless outdoor recreation only 20 miles away in Heber Valley.
Best skiing is January through March for the Park City areas, and all the way through April for the higher Snowbird, Alta, Solitude, Brighton, Snowbasin. Spring skiing is great, powder in the morning and tee shirts in the afternoon.
As such a people magnet, knowing when to show up and dodge the crowds is an imperative when visiting Park City, one of the three best ski towns in the country (Telluride, Aspen). Perhaps the best time to find small crowds on the slopes is one of the best times of the year for snow: late January.
Park City, Utah is less than half a day away from anywhere in the United States, and once you land at Salt Lake City International Airport, Park City is an easy, 35-minute ride from the airport. The airport is currently under renovation.

Most Utah ski resorts close mid-April, though late season snow can extend the season on some mountains by a weekend or two. Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort enjoys Utah's longest ski season, typically offering good conditions into mid-May.

The Park City snow report is: 34 out of 39 Lifts open. Our model predicted that 13cm (5 inches) of snow fell over 18 hours between Friday 22 of January at 2PM and Saturday 23 of January at 8AM MST at the mid mountain level. Compacted depth will be less. Winter in Utah is a sight to behold. Snow covers the land and snow sports such as snowboarding and skiing are very popular in Park City. Temperatures are very cold and it's more likely to snow than rain. Utah weather in December is very chilly with temperatures at their lowest at night.
In a typical year, snowmaking is a 24-hour-a-day operation from about mid-October at Park City Mountain and the beginning of November for Deer Valley to the end of January. (In the 2017–18 season, both resorts had snow guns going well into February.)

On average, 77% of Park City's terrain is open by Dec. 25. In 80% of winters, Park City is more than half open by Dec. 25, making it a great bet for holiday ski trips.

Thanksgiving is still very early for snow accumulation.
In December, in Salt Lake City, Utah, it is snowing for 8.2 days. Throughout December, 13.2" (335.3mm) of snow is accumulated.
