You will retest with a different version (version 2) of the exam— no student will have the same exam items twice. If you fail the exam on the second attempt, you must wait until the next eligibility period to test. You can test for HESI A2 Exam six times per year, which is two times per eligibility period.

How long does it take to complete the HESI? You are allowed 6 hours to complete all the modules of the test. Most people take less than four hours to complete the test. Unless you have special accommodations, you must complete the test on the same day you start.
Although both companies have a suite of exam offerings, many schools use the HESI Exit Exam (E2) as an NCLEX predictor test, or the ATI Comprehensive Predictor. HESI also has a host of assessment products, but the one most often used to “predict” NCLEX success is the HESI exit exam (E2).

Students may retake the HESI test once every 60 days based on the date of the first exam. The 60-day count will begin on the day following your most recent test date. If a student takes the HESI A2 a second time observing the 60 day window, the most recent score will be used for computing admission scores.
