Potential Risks of SrirachaThe health risks of sriracha boil down to the same health risks of many other savory condiments: too much salt. There is a lot of salt in sriracha, and too much salt can raise blood pressure. Fortunately, for many people, this is only temporary.
If a recipe uses Frank's you do not want to use another hot sauce, even if it a hot sauce you love. It'll be too hot, too salty, or too flavor overload. If you can't stand Frank's or want something VERY mild instead, try using barbecue sauce.
Tabasco is hotter, and tastes different than Frank's Red Hot. I find Frank's to be much more sour than Tabasco. If you've had buffalo wings before then you may have had Frank's as a lot of places just mix Frank's with butter. I'm selective with what I can put Frank's on but Tabasco is pretty much good with everything.
Best Sriracha Substitute
- Chili garlic sauce. The best Sriracha substitute? Garlic chili sauce. You might see this condiment on the table at Thai or Japanese restaurants.

The American Chemical Society evaluates Sriracha on the Scoville Scale, which measures the hotness of a chili pepper, finding the sauce is hotter than Texas Pete but not has hot as Tabasco Sauce. The American Chemical Society finds on the Scoville Scale: Sriracha ranges between 1,000-2,500.
It's sort of like ketchup but, instead of just sweetness from the tomatoes it's dominated by a mild spiciness from the peppers (which is still a little sweet). Like ketchup, but sweeter and with garlic and chilli.
