In Tehran, the summers are hot, arid, and clear and the winters are very cold, dry, and mostly clear. Over the course of the year, the temperature typically varies from 34°F to 97°F and is rarely below 26°F or above 102°F.
Iran has a variable climate. In the northwest, winters are cold with heavy snowfall and subfreezing temperatures. Spring and fall are relatively mild, while summers are dry and hot. Iran is considered colder than neighboring countries such as Turkey and Armenia, due to its higher elevation.

Susa, also called Shushan, Greek Susiane, modern Shush, capital of Elam (Susiana) and administrative capital of the Achaemenian king Darius I and his successors from 522 bce. It was located at the foot of the Zagros Mountains near the bank of the Karkheh KÅ«r (Choaspes) River in the Khuzistan region of Iran.

Ecbatana, ancient city on the site of which stands the modern city of HamadÄn (q.v.), Iran. Ecbatana was the capital of Media and was subsequently the summer residence of the Achaemenian kings and one of the residences of the Parthian kings.
Israel's central mountainous region, including Jerusalem, gets snowfall every few years. In 2013, a major blizzard knocked out power in several neighborhoods after blanketing the city with up to 30 centimeters (1 foot) of snow.
