Corn mazes have become popular tourist attractions in North America, and are a way for farms to generate tourist income. Many are based on artistic designs such as characters from movies. Corn mazes appear in many different designs. Some mazes are even created to tell stories or to portray a particular theme.

The fast-growing corn sprouts in about a week, and when it's 3 to 6 inches tall, the design is cut in. While The Maize Company originally used a modified weed whacker to cut paths in the corn—a process that took up to three weeks—today the design starts on a computer and paths are cut while the corn is still short.
Farms take cornfields and cut paths into them. But to add more of a challenge there are loops and dead ends to get you lost. And since the corn is usually taller than you are, it is easy to get lost. Many times corn mazes are even cut to make the field look like some type of picture or design.
An even easier way to escape a corn maze: Just keep a hand on one wall. Doesn't matter which one, just pick left or right when you enter and then follow the path that keeping a hand on that wall leads you along.
If you always turn to the same direction, you will eventually find the exit or whatever the maze is about finding. This tip is not very useful in real life but might come in handy in computer games or an occasional garden maze you come across.

Leave crop residues on the surface, kill weeds with herbicide, till with sweep or chisel, then light disking, or use rotary tiller for entire operation; seed is planted with regular planter with disk openers or furrow openers on shoe-type planter. Conserves moisture, reduces runoff.
