Thanks to the H1 chip, when comparing AirPods 2 vs. AirPods, the second-gen has longer support for talk time than its predecessor. Apple notes up to 50% more, though lists talk time as three hours (AirPods 1 has two hours of talk time). Apple also improved the audio and voice quality of the second-generation AirPods.
Apple's Lightning port is proprietary and USB-C is universal. Every Android phone has a USB-C port. Every new laptop in recent years charges with USB-C.
Lightning cables are capable of pushing at least 12W, while micro USB is limited to 9W due to the 1.8A at 5V maximum power rating. Check out Pocketable's in-depth analysis of why Lightning cables can charge faster and provide more power than the flimsy and limited micro USB.
No, Lightning cables and USB cables are not the same. A Lightning cable, unique to Apple devices, has an eight-pin reversible connector port. Different types of charging cables, including Lightning cables and USBs, are used to charge and sync different devices.
With the right data standard (see below), the USB-C connection is much faster and more versatile than USB-A. In time, you can expect USB-C connections to replace all older USB-A connections and other ports. This switchover will, however, probably take years.
Every iPhone 12 comes with a Lightning-to-USB-C cable, and that's pretty much it. So out of the box, those who don't currently have any Apple power adapters will need a USB-C power adapter to charge the iPhone 12.
USB-C is the emerging standard for charging and transferring data. USB-C features a new, smaller connector shape that's reversible so it's easier to plug in. USB-C cables can carry significantly more power, so they can be used to charge larger devices like laptops.
It doesn't support fast-charging.Transferring large files to your iPhone isn't something every user needs. But the included Lightning cable doesn't even support fast charging, a feature found on almost every new Android phone. And it's notorious for breaking or fraying.
Apple changed its long-standing 30-pin dock connector out for an 8-pin new standard called Lightning.
Apple's new iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max models, which were announced in September, all have Lightning ports. Apple has started to include the USB-C connector in some products. The new iPhones support Apple's fast charger, which promises to deliver up to a 50% charge in 30 minutes.
The main and most obvious difference between USB 4.0 and USB-C is that USB-C is a type of USB cable. This refers to the physical design of the connectors and ports whilst USB 4.0 deals with the functionality and speed of the USB cable. USB 4.0 makes data transfer speeds of 20 Gbps and 40 Gbps possible.
USB-C is the emerging standard for charging and transferring data. Today, the main rival of Lightning is the USB-C port which is favored by Android smartphones including Samsung, HUAWEI, LG and more including the technology industry as a whole. In fact, USB-C is intended to be the universal cable to rule them all.
Thunderbolt 3 is a step up from what USB-C alone can offer. It does a lot, but the key features of the connection include: 40Gbps speeds, far faster than what USB-C can offer by itself. Support for up to two 4K displays or a 5K display for routing video and audio out.
Now bundled with every new iPhone, a USB-C-to-Lightning cable vastly improves your phone's charging speed — sometimes even boosting its battery from 0 to 50% in 30 minutes (or less). You'll need a compatible charger, though, because new iPhones no longer ship with one.
You have to have an Apple Wireless Charging Case, which you do get by default with the AirPods Pro. It's an option for the regular AirPods. Then you also need a Qi charger to place them on.
On a low battery, a 15 minutes charge will give you 180 minutes of listening time or 120 minutes of talk time. Again, it's best to charge them for longer if you can. The AirPods and AirPods Pro charging cases hold multiple charges, increasing the total battery life of your AirPods: up to 24 hours of listening time.
The Adapter lets you connect standard USB accessories/cables to a USB-C or Thunderbolt 3 device. Included a 6.6ft/2m USB C to C charging cable let you can work and charge your laptop anywhere.
