Add an Auxiliary Input
The major drawback with the Series 1 SoundDock is that it only works with Apple products. Bose solved this problem with the Series 2 by adding an auxiliary input. But for under $15, you can easily add an AUX input to your Series 1 all by yourself. You can plug one end of a stereo cable into the music system's AUX IN and the other end into the TV if it has a similar connector, which could be labeled as a headphone jack. The connection enables the TV to play music from the SoundDock system, which is activated by pressing the AUX IN button on the SoundDock remote.
Turn the speaker on. Press and hold the AUX and Volume - buttons for 10-20 seconds, until a tone is heard. Turn the speaker on and verify your language selection. To select English, press Play/Pause and hold.
Re: Lost remote - can't turn on
Hi jbryant, You can use the remote that came with the system, or a 3rd party universal remote programmed to control the Bose system. If you would like to purchase a new Cinemate II remote, you can contact your local support center via phone to place an order.Amar G. Bose, founder of the Bose Corporation. Founder Amar Bose didn't set out to sell speaker systems and headphones. He began his career as an academic engineer at MIT in the late 1950s, licensing power conversion and amplification technology to the U.S. military and government agencies such as NASA.

2 Answers. The Bose Soundock will not charge the 2nd gen iPod by design. There are difference in the dock connection. Unless you are willing to open the Sounddock and do some heavy rewiring, there is no way to work it.
If you check the sticker on the bottom, above the serial number, it should say the name of your SoundDock system. If it does not mention the words "Series" or "Portable" then it is a Series I. Many Series I SoundDock serial numbers start with "0357" or "0402".
- Step 1 Battery.
- Carefully pull the battery away from the back of the system.
- On the new battery, make sure the slot in the knob on the battery is in a horizontal position.
- Push in the slotted knob and turn it clockwise until the slot is vertical.
- Connect the power supply and charge the battery.
Reset your SoundDock system. Turn the system off and unplug it from power for 60 seconds. Once you have reconnected the system to power, see if the iPod will charge.
Touch any button (except Off) to turn on the SoundDock system. Note: Each time you press a button on the remote control, a small light on the front of the system flashes briefly. You can play another audio by connecting it to the system. This requires a cable with a 3.5mm mini plug at one end.
Re: Bose SoundDock 10 System Update
The easiest way to update your SoundTouch speaker is by going into the SoundTouch app, and selecting your speaker in the tray at the bottom. There should be a button that says "Update Speaker".You can use the Bose remote, and press the Bluetooth button. Then go to your Bluetooth settings on your iPhone and select the Wave System under the Bluetooth Settings. Auxiliary is just as simple, you can plug the iPhone directly into the auxiliary port on the back of the system.
