Annoying, yes. Bad, not so sure. A louder fan is bad if it is louder than fan of other laptop of the same model, which means it's not designed to be that loud, it's just defective. If a fan is louder, and at the same time has better air flow, than another fan, this is a trade off.

Depending on your processor, your cooling system and thermal paste, AND the intensity of the activity given, your laptop can survive between 30 minutes and …well… Laptop cannot overheat if you don't push them . Staying idle, or low-intensity work doesn't provide that much heat.
If you'd like to see the temperature in the system tray, it should be enabled by default. If it's not, click “Options,” then “Settings.” Click the “Windows Taskbar” tab, then “Enable Windows 7 Taskbar features,” followed by “Temperature,” then “OK.”
CPU overheating occurs, as heat can't escape thru dust build-up. Another problem of dust clogging your system is that it restricts airflow. Good airflow helps lower core temps, by reducing the ambient temperature inside of the case. Ideally, you want to prevent dust from being an issue.
Overclocking temperatures could in theory go as high as 90°C while still being 'safe', and the max temperature for many CPUs is listed in the 105-110°C range. But for long-term use, you're much better off keeping things below 80°C in general and only pushing up to 85°C at the most.
Overclocking does not reduce the lifespan of a component if only increasing the frequency. Higher frequency/oscillation will decrease system stability however requiring faster voltage drain from the line and on the transistor level.
- Vacuum the dust from your case. If your computer's case is filled with dust, cool air cannot flow in and hot air cannot flow out.
- Add another case fan.
- Install a PCI fan card to blow on your graphics card.
- Add an aftermarket GPU cooler to your graphics card.
