Arriving back on Earth, EVE repairs WALL-E but finds that his memory has been reset and his personality is gone. WALL•E goes inside the lifepod to retrieve it, but just as he does so, the lifepod is launched into space, set to self-destruct. What's the story behind Wall E?
WALL-E, short for Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-class, is the last robot left on Earth. He spends his days tidying up the planet, one piece of garbage at a time. 21 EVE took the plant that WALL-E had found and transported it to the Axiom. Why did the autopilot try to destroy the plant? Answer: The CEO declared Earth unsustainable. The autopilot, called AUTO, had been told by the BnL CEO that Earth was (and always would be) inhospitable.
We know there is sunlight on the degraded Earth; Wall-E himself is solar-powered. He finds the precious plant in a closed refrigerator, which is worrisome from a scientific point of view. Green plants can't live long without sunlight.
