An N95 mask or N95 respirator is a particulate-filtering facepiece respirator that meets the U.S. National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) N95 classification of air filtration, meaning that it filters at least 95% of airborne particles.

I have a 1/2 mask 3M 7500 respirator and am looking for organic vapor cartridges. The 3M 6001 Organic Vapor Cartridge is NIOSH approved for a wide variety of organic vapors. Each cartridge contains granulated charcoal that is treated to absorb organic vapors from the air that passes through the cartridge as you inhale.

A P100 rating is the highest for personal respiratory protection. As long as your mask fits properly a P100 filter will block 99.9% of particles . 3 microns or larger. (If you're interested in the nitty-gritty the CDC has a comprehensive and fairly unreadable guide to particulate respirators.)
The difference between an N95, N99 and N100 respirator is simply the filter's efficiency level (i.e. N95 = NOT Resistant to solids and liquids which contain oil and provides 95% efficiency). The higher the efficiency, the more particulates the respirator will filter out.
