Indonesian (bahasa Indonesia, [baˈha.sa in.ˈd?.n?.sja]) is the official language of Indonesia. It is a standardized variety of Malay, an Austronesian language that has been used as a lingua franca in the multilingual Indonesian archipelago for centuries.
The Buginese or Bugis people are an ethnic group—the most numerous of the three major linguistic and ethnic groups of South Sulawesi (the others being Makassar and Toraja), in the southwestern province of Sulawesi, third largest island of Indonesia. The Bugis in 1605 converted to Islam from Animism.
Makassar, the capital of South Sulawesi, has been a trading center since the beginning of the sixteenth century. As one of the busiest business cities in Indonesia, Makassar gets plenty of visitors. Though it is overlooked as a tourism destination there are plenty of things to do in Makassar.
