Landrace, which are noted for their ability to farrow and raise large litters, are the fifth most recorded breed of swine in the United States. It was mainly through the use of Landrace that Denmark became the chief bacon-exporting country.
P1818 is one-eighth Meishan, while her latest litter contains one-16th of the Chinese breed. The genetics company ACMC, of Driffield, East Yorkshire, has contacted the Guinness Book of Records to verify its claim that P1818 has produced the largest known litter.

Berkshire Pig – Berkshire pigs are one of the oldest heritage breeds of hogs. Originally from the Berk area in England, the Berkshires are a popular choice for meat production and possess an easy-going personality. They have a 600-pound average market weight is easily obtained with foraging.
