Given (Japanese: ??? Hepburn: Givun) is an ongoing Japanese BL manga series written and illustrated by Natsuki Kizu and published by Shinsokan. The manga has been serialized in the bi-monthly manga magazine Cheri+ since April 2013 and was adapted into an audio drama in 2016.
Yuri on Ice is filled with bland characters, stiff sequences meant to move us, and dialogue that is strictly bad. I don't relish being negative about a show. Characters don't feel real, the conflicts come off as artificial and poorly paced – really, there's too much to discuss.
No yaoi, it's mostly just friendship drama with some swimming. There's some male fanservice (it's a swimming anime, what did you expect), and I'd say there's probably ample room for shipping/daydreaming/whatever if you're into that kind of stuff, but there's absolutely no overt BL.
The creators behind the beloved figure skating anime never intended for Victor and Yuri to fall in love. That part of the story occurred all on its own. Mangaka Kubo worked to create a world where only love exists, and the notion of gay or straight don't interfere.
That's why he was slack-jawed when Viktor announced their engagement - because Yuri didn't propose to him. It was a joke. Kubo literally said in a post-series interview she made sure to research that wedding rings didn't have to imply a wedding or engagement.
They are engaged, but sort of informally. Yuuri was really surprised everyone at dinner made a big deal about it, I think he would have preferred to tell them as oppose to Chris & Phichit blowing it out of proportion.
Young Yuri Yuri is a very ambitious boy who is determined to become the best of the best in figure skating. Contrary to his beauty and grace on the ice, once Yuri steps out of the rink he becomes foul-mouthed, rude, and dismissive of others?earning him his second nickname, the Russian Punk.
Another reason why Yuri!!! on Ice gained international appeal is because it's an international anime. Due to its competition's nature, essentially being a world tournament, many of the minor characters come from all over the globe. Because of this, you see a lot of different cultures represented in the series.
Yuri on Ice!!!: 5 Ways Victor is the Best Skater (& 5 It's Yuri
- 6 Victor: His Dominance Has Lasted Into His Late Twenties.
- 7 Yurio: He Broke Victor's World Record In The Short Skate.
- 8 Victor: He Pushed The Sport Forward.
- 9 Yurio: He Made History By Winning The Grand Prix At Age Fifteen.
- 10 Victor: He Is The Consecutive Five-Time World Champion.
Apparently Yuri on Ice rates an 8/10 rating for “sex and nudity” (by comparison, Fifty Shades of Grey rated a 9/10), but a mere 2/10 for “violence and gore.” You have been warned.
Yurio's determination to win gold so that Yuri will not retire proves fruitful, and he wins the Grand Prix gold, albeit narrowly. Yuri begs Victor to stay on and coach him, to which Victor agrees. The after ending reveals that Yuri moves to Russia to be with Victor.
Otabek Altin/Yuri Plisetsky, or Otayuri, is a non-canon slash ship in the fandom Yuri!!! on Ice. It is the second-most popular pairing in the fandom after the canonical ship Yuri Katsuki/Victor Nikiforov.
