In all Jane Eyre's life, the pursuit of true love is an important representation of her struggle for self-realization.
The book can be enjoyed at any age — but the same can be said of YA literature in general. According to a 2012 study, more than half the buyers of YA books are over 18. Surely the best time to read Jane Eyre is as a young adult.
And although there is an identical age difference between the leads in the new Jane Eyre movie, Mia Wasikowska (23) and Michael Fassbender (35), it is somehow less noticeable. Thirty five is obviously the new 25.
