If you don't have a PC beta code by either pre-purchasing or getting a code from the Twitch Drops system then you'll have to wait until October 17 to get access to the Call of Duty – Cold War open beta on all platforms. This beta period will last until October 19 and cross-play will be available throughout.
The Beta will be available to download for free for all other players starting October 17 at 10 a.m. PDT. Pre-order players will not only secure early access to the Open Beta but also receive instant rewards like the Woods Operator Pack for immediate use in Modern Warfare and Warzone.
It's official, Call of Duty: Vanguard is this year's CoD and it's coming in November 2021. Given the unwavering annual release schedule of Call of Duty titles, this is hardly surprising. But what we are pleasantly surprised by is that the series is returning to a World War 2 setting.

The CoD Vanguard Beta End Time is now set for 1pm ET/6pm BST on Wednesday, September 22.
The Beta ends September 22 at 10am PT, following an announcement by Call of Duty that it has been extended from its original end date of Sept. 20. Xbox & PC Early Access (pre-order required): September 16 – 17. Xbox & PC Open Beta: September 18 – 20.
Activision had initially planned the Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War beta program for 48 hours, however, it has now been extended for 24 hours. This means that the beta test will end on October 20 at 10 AM PT/ 6 PM UK time, instead of the originally planned end date of October 19.
The Vanguard Beta is completely open to all PlayStation players from September 16th at 10:00 PST / 13:00 EST / 18:00 BST - all the way to September 20th!
Navigate to the PlayStation Store on the PS4 home screen. Search for Black Ops Cold War and look for the option labeled “Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Open Betaâ€. Select the download option and wait for it to install completely. Launch the game and start playing.
All you have to do is pre-order any edition of Vanguard, digital or physical, before the Beta, and you will receive early access to the Open Beta, first on PlayStation®. The dates for the Open Beta will be revealed in the coming weeks.
Activision has confirmed that Call of Duty Cold War and Warzone Season 6 will start at around 5am BST, on Thursday, October 7. Before that happens, a new Cold War update will be released on October 6, at around 5am BST, containing everything needed to begin the new season.
Here's what players will need to do:
- You need to go on your respective console's store – PlayStation or Xbox.
- Search for “Cold War Free Accessâ€
- A free trial option for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War should be available to download.
- Download it, and then boot it up to play.
The free access will be available for players across multiple platforms. The new free trial mode for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will start from July 22 and end on July 29 for players on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Xbox One consoles.
The open beta starts Thursday, September 19 for all PlayStation 4 owners and does not require a pre-order. In addition, anyone who has pre-ordered the game on Xbox One, or on PC via Blizzard Battle.net also can play starting Thursday, September 19.
The open beta was originally set to end on September 20, but it was extended for an extra two days. PlayStation players have access to the beta one week early, from September 10 to September 13. If you pre-order the game on any platform, the open beta is available from September 16 to September 17.
Similar to PlayStation, multiplayer aspects of paid titles such as Cold War and Vanguard will still require Xbox Live Gold. Free-to-play now means free-to-play.
