The mech feels a lot more solid than the shifter and certainly does not feel cheap. In fact, it has a nice low key black finish and appears to be very well-made. It features large jockey wheels for a smooth chain path and has its ratchet and pawl clutch can easily be toggled on/off for riding or wheel removal.
Drop-Bar ShiftersIntegrated levers are shifters and brake levers combined into one mechanism. If you pull the lever towards the bar, it actuates the brake. If you push the lever or paddle to the side, it actuates the derailleur.
The high gear is the largest chain ring in the front and the smallest cog on the rear cassette. This achieves the most difficult pedaling position and requires the most force to push the pedals. Moving from low to high gear is called "upshifting".
ADVENT is focused on function first. That means: a bomber clutch mechanism that is repairable, rapid shifting response under load, and plenty of gear range for trail riding. It works so well that you can focus on riding and not mowing lawns to feed your habit.
SRAM and Shimano currently rule the drivetrain world, but we're starting to see more and more viable options from other manufacturers hit the market. Taiwanese brand, MicroSHIFT, have entered into the ring with their Advent 9-speed derailleur, shifter, and cassette combo.
Shimano 105 is considered Shimano's first performance groupset, and for many people it is the best option in combining performance, value and longevity. Ultegra is next and is very similar to Dura-Ace in terms of performance, though Dura-Ace is lighter.

Shimano and SRAM both make quality products, but their approach and styles are different. Looking at the current component landscape, it can be said that Shimano is generally the more conservative of the two. Over the last decade, SRAM has pursued drivetrain innovation more aggressively.
What are the best gears to cycle in? Shift to easier gears when climbing uphill or when you're riding in the direction of the wind. Use a harder gear for flat terrains, or if the wind is blowing from behind - a tailwind situation. If you're in doubt, it is advisable to shift before a terrain change.
Shimano's primary manufacturing plants are in Kunshan, China; Malaysia; and Singapore. In 2017, Shimano had net sales of US $3.2 billion, 38% in Europe, 35% in Asia, and 11% in North America. Bicycle components represented 80%, fishing tackle 19%, and other products 0.1%.
Our bar end shifters play well with SRAM and Shimano 11- and 12-speed mountain bike systems, so you can create the mix-and-match drop bar setup of your off-road dreams. With an optional friction mode and adjustable lever resistance, these shifters will survive anything you can throw at them, and do it in style.
Remove old cable by pushing the cable head through the cable port. Route the new cable, narrow side first, into the cable port and out through the barrel adjuster. Make sure the cable head is fully seated. *Some shifters may not have a cable cap; in that case the cable port sits next to the upper shift lever.
