Dollarweed (Hydrocotyle spp.), also known as pennywort, is a warm-season perennial weed. It gets the common name, dollarweed, from its silver–dollar-shaped leaves. One way to distinguish the two is by looking at the placement of the leaf stem.
This weed can float and be tricky to deal with. You're most likely dealing with dollarweed issues because there is too much water in your lawn. This can be caused by several things such as soil not draining properly, too much rain, or thin turf. One factor that makes dollarweed hard to control is the way it spreads.

Hydrocotyle vulgaris is a fast growing plant and may deplete the nutrients in its soil over time. Replenish them with a gentle organic fertilizer or compost every 1-2 months depending on your location and season. Fertilize more often during the growing season and in warmer and brighter climates.
hydrocotyle Pronunciation. hy·dro·cotyle.
This interesting little plant, unlike H. leucocephala, retains its trailing growth habit when submersed. Plant the runners horizontally into the substrate. Soon, this Hydrocotyle will begin to put out new runners.
Planting Hydrocotyle verticillataIt can be planted in the substrate; sand with a relatively large grain size is best, as fine sand compacts easily but the plant won't be able to root well in very coarse gravel either.
Propagate by trimming stems and replanting on pulling apart dense clumps and splitting the roots. New shoots can be trimmed anywhere along the stem which allows the plant to grow thicker and more compact.
Hydrocotyle tripartitaIt grows very aggressively when rooted into nutritious substrate, so growing it on hardscape is better as it can be controlled easily with frequently pruning; over repeated trimming cycles it forms a nice dense bush. Although a very easy plant to grow, it grows much better in CO2 injected tanks.
