Fitbits are designed to be as tough and resilient as your workouts. But they're not invincible. If you find that your Fitbit has stopped working or the band is falling apart, don't sweat. Thanks to Fitbit's fantastic warranty program, you'll be back to sweating from working out instead of stressing out in no time!
Fitbit kills Alta, Alta HR, Flex 2, and Zip. Fitbit announced four new wearables today: the Inspire, Inspire HR, Ace 2, and Versa Lite Edition. But the Inspire and Inspire HR are the company's cheapest wrist-worn trackers to date, and so it took the opportunity to slash its product lineup.
Swim-proof (finally!)
The Flex 2 is the first Fitbit you can wear in the shower and while swimming. It's waterproof down to 50 meters (about 165 feet) and can be used in both fresh water and salt water. Like the Charge 2, the Flex 2 can also automatically recognize and record workouts. You can set up your Flex using a computer or the Fitbit apps for iOS, Android, or Windows. The Fitbit app is compatible with more than 200 mobile devices that support iOS, Android, and Windows 10 operating systems.
The Fitbit Flex 2 was replaced by the Fitbit Inspire series in 2019. Zip, Alta and Alta HR were taken out of the range at the same time. You can read this and other changes in Fitbit's announcements for 2019. The Inspire series offers two variations.

The $99 Fitbit Flex 2 is a great fit for those who want to track their steps, exercise and sleep without wearing a bulky device or plasticky band. Its water resistance means you don't have to take it off every day, and stylish accessories make this device among the more attractive fitness trackers around.
Fitbit Flex 2 price and release date
Although Fitbit has pushed some major upgrades into the Flex 2, it originally costed around the same price as its predecessor too with a launch price of $99.95 (£79.99, AU$149.95).Like the Alta, there is no altimeter, heart rate monitor, or GPS, so the Flex 2 isn't meant for quite the same level of advanced self-quantification as the more expensive Fitbit Surge ($218.00 at Amazon) . But it's accurate in what it does track.

The Fitbit zip was discontinued and replaced with the Fitbit Inspire clip accessory in March 2019.
The Flex 2 lacks a heart rate monitor and an altimeter, meaning it can't track your heart rate or tell you how many flights of stairs you've climbed each day. The absence of a screen on the Flex 2 also means you don't get to see data in real time, like you can on devices such as the Charge 2.
Both have nearly a week-long battery life (though the Alta HR may be slightly longer) and bands that can be swapped out for different looks. However, while the Alta HR is splash-resistant, the Inspire HR is waterproof and offers swim tracking. You'll get a more detailed cardiovascular health analysis on the Inspire HR.
Today, Fitbit also killed off four wearables: the Alta (released February 2016), Alta HR (released March 2017), Flex 2 (released October 2016), and Zip (released September 2012). The Fitbit Ace 2 replaces the Fitbit Ace, as you might expect, and the Versa Lite Edition isn't replacing anything.
Fitbit's Inspire will replace the Alta, Zip, One and Flex 2
- The Inspire's mere existence isn't news in and of itself.
- Today, however, Fitbit announced that the product will be available to everyone, arriving later this month, priced at $70 for the standard version and $100 for the 24/7 heart rate tracking HR model.
When properly charged, a Fitbit's battery could last between five and seven days before requiring another charge, depending on the model of your device and how actively you use it.
It is ready for just about anything too. Like the hardiest of bands, the Fitbit Inspire HR is 5ATM water resistant. You can wear it in the shower, or the swimming pool. And give it a rinse after a particularly gruelling, sweaty run.
Our favorite Fitbit smartwatch is the Fitbit Versa 2, while our favorite Fitbit tracker is the Fitbit Inspire HR. At the basic level, Fitbit trackers record many of the same stats — steps taken, miles covered, floors climbed, and calories burned.
Don't leave your device plugged in on the charger during storage. For more information, see How do I turn off my Fitbit device? For trackers, charge the device to 100% at least once every 6 months; for watches, charge the device to 100% at least once per year. Store your device in a cool, moisture-free place.
One notable difference between Inspire and Alta is that the former's casing is composed from plastic rather than aluminium. Although this makes Inspire look cheaper, it's slightly lighter and more comfortable on the wrist, which are among the most important attributes for any fitness tracker.
The Inspire HR is a little larger than the Alta HR in terms of width, though smaller than the Charge 3 and Charge 4. It opts for a plastic body over stainless steel, making for a lighter device and once again, it's small and discreet.
The Fitbit Charge 4 arrived on 15 April 2020, priced at $149.95 / £129.99 / AU$229.95 / AED 699 – the same as the Fitbit Charge 3 at launch. That's pretty impressive – we'd anticipated a higher price in exchange for the Charge 4's more advanced features.

The Fitbit Charge 3 is a comfortable and sleek fitness tracker, that also brings smartwatch notifications to your wrist and packs a battery that keeps the device going for almost a week. Its heart rate and in-depth fitness tracking capabilities make it worth the $150.

So while this confirms the watch is coming, there's no clear idea of a release date. The company recently unveiled the Fitbit Inspire HR and Fitbit Versa Lite, so it's unlikely we'll see it until at least the second half of 2019. However, Fitbit doesn't always stick to the same cycle for its upgrades.
Is the Fitbit Charge 3 waterproof? Best answer: Technically no, but the Charge 3 is water resistant for up to 50 meters, meaning you can go swimming, take a shower, and get caught in the rain without worry about it malfunctioning.
