There are two really safe areas, and one that is safe but in a semi-industrial area. Old Town would be my first choice. You have the Best Western Rio Grande Inn, Hotel Albuquerque, Monterey Non-Smoking Motel as really good choices. All three are within walking distance of Old Town, with lots of really good restaurants.
