But the perfect amount of horsepower, in any car, is right near 500. Let me explain. First, 500 is nice and round, halfway between zero (a terrible amount) and 1,000 (way too much). The Ford Mustang GT350 is just over at 526 hp, and my '14 Mustang GT, well, it starts at 420.

It's not just the 3.1 seconds we expect the 599GTO will take to get to 60 mph—the Lambo sits as the quickest 600-hp car because this Ferrari's time is an estimate—or the 208-mph top speed; it's the feeling and sound the car generates at every turn of the wheel and each firing of every cylinder.

The wheel horsepower is a critical value, which shows you how much power transfers from the engine to the wheels. The WHP usually is lower than the standard horsepower, also known as the braking horsepower. The difference comes from the power distribution, that is, from the axles and other related parts to the wheel.
General rule is 20% for auto, 15% for manual. Aluminum flywheel, carbon fiber driveshafts, aluminum wheels also make a significant difference.
and when it has 350whp how many would that be? Maybe I get it right. Stock is 210 flywheel hp.
Crank horsepower or brake horsepower is the power measurement an engine can make without the drivetrain connected. This is the purest way to calculate engine performance and at the same time maybe the least applicable for real world validation. Crank horsepower is also how vehicle manufacturers rate their vehicles.
If you go with 15% for manual and 20% for auto, divide the rwhp by .85 for manual and .80 for auto. 300 rwhp would equal 352.9 flywheel hp manual or 375 auto.

Re: whp to hp calculation? (Just use a regular calculator. Just to be clear, if you're assuming a 15% drivetrain loss (i.e. 100 HP at the crank = 85 HP at the wheels), then you need to take the WHP figures and multiply by 1.1765. In this case, 85 WHP * 1.1765 = 100.0025 crank HP.
How do we work out BHP from WHP? Two parts to this – first we take the wheel horsepower figure (WHP) that the car has made on the dyno. BHP-WHP= Horsepower Loss. We then divide HP loss by BHP and multiply by 100 to get our drivetrain loss percentage.
The Subaru WRX STi is a fantastic package with solid Brembo brakes, a high-performance suspension, and around 300 turbocharged horsepower being put to the ground with pure all-wheel-drive traction.
300 whp: The EJ20/EJ25 engines can handle 300 whp maximum with stock internals with no further modifications other than a proper fuel management tune.
400whp is plenty fast for any street car period. Chances are you're going to want more eventually.
The STI is clearly the better performer, but it can cost over $14,000 more than the WRX. The base WRX is an excellent performance car at a great price. If you need a few more comfort and convenience features, upgrading to Premium or even Limited trim won't break your wallet.
It's running an Outback 2.5-liter boxer powerplant? This Subaru WRX STI runs a quick 10.99 elapsed time at the drag strip and it doesn't even have an STI engine.
They will hold up to 400 whp (again as shown in our PPIHC car), but if you want to push up to or beyond that power level, a set of aftermarket H-Beam rods would be recommended.
The Subaru WRX STI Reliability Rating is 2.5 out of 5.0, which ranks it 36th out of 36 for compact cars. The average annual repair cost is $758 which means it has average ownership costs.
For a more realistic measure, the average "fast" stock turbo'd WRX will run in the area of 13.1-13.3 at around 103-104mph.
