Sky has released a new version of the Sky Go app that allows Sky TV customers to access recordings on their mobile devices. This was previously the only major difference between the Sky Go app and the Sky Q app, which launched alongside the Sky Q set top box in 2015. As a result, the Sky Q app will be discontinued.
In most cases, you will find that you now have more time to watch before the downloads expire. However, on Q, you can only tell if the expiration date is 30 days or earlier. So if you don't see an expiration date in Recordings for your downloads to Q, then you have at least 31 days to go.
The Sky+ box only has two tuners, and it has two connections to the satellite dish. This means that it is only capable of getting two channels at a time. The box is not capable of receiving a third channel. With the two channels you can watch one channel whilst recording another, or record two channels.
THINGS TO REMEMBER
Sky Q is clearly one of the best TV services on the market but it's worth remembering that to get the ultimate package you will need to spend more. For example, if you want to watch 4K sports and movies it will set you back over £70 per month.These features were previously only found on the larger 2TB box, but now the only difference between them is the storage size, as it should be. 1TB of storage will get you 500 hours of TV and films, while 2TB translated to a whopping 1,000 hours, so you can fill it up with all sorts of nonsense that tickles your fancy.

To watch Sky Box Sets & Netflix in Ultra HD on Sky Q – in addition to Ultimate On Demand - you'll need the Sky Q experience/Sky Q Multiscreen subscription (£12/€17.50 extra a month) and a Sky Q 2TB box.
Can I watch a show from the beginning while it's still recording? Yes you can, just press planner on your Sky remote, highlight the programme that's being recorded and press select/play.
From the TV Guide in Sky Go you can Remote Record episodes or series to your Sky box. To Remote Record, select the programme from the guide then tap the record icon. To be able to Remote Record you must be logged in to the app with your My Account details.
If your Sky+ box is not recording it's best to carry out a planner rebuild. For this, your Sky box will need to be switched on and show a picture on your TV. You'll also need your Sky TV remote control to access the settings on your Sky TV box. Next, press '0-0-1' on your remote control keypad and then press select.
Currently, you can't delete all your recordings from your deleted folder. Instead, your Sky Q box automatically makes room for new recordings by deleting the oldest recordings when the box is running out of space. If you'd like to see this added to Sky Q you can show your support for it here.
Re: Series Link not working
Provided you have a note of all your links Delete everything from the Scheduled section in Recordings - Manage. When Scheduled is clear and empty Reboot your main Q box. Disconnect power lead for 30 sec and then reconnect to reboot. After reboot re-add all your links and see how they go.Sky Q Mini box
Mini boxes don't have any tuners of their own but stream content from a 1TB or 2TB box. Sky Q Mini boxes allow users to pause broadcasts or recordings in one room and then continue to watch in a different room.How to Recover Deleted Recordings and Programs on Sky Q
- Press sky on your Sky Q remote, select Recordings and then select Deleted.
- Select the recording you want to recover and select Undelete.
- Restore or permanently delete your recordings.
- Choose the external hard drive.
- Scan for lost data.
- Preview and recover data.
Load the Sky+App onto your device and log in to your account. Go to Settings in the App and then select Recordings and Downloads. Make sure that the Remote record shows the correct card number and also that this is ticked. One you have done this try remote record on your Q box.
Recording a Programme
You can record two programmes at the same time, but if you are doing this then you will either have to watch a programme you have already recorded or switch to regular television. Hover over the programme you wish to record and press the red record button on your Sky Remote.With Q, Sky really has never been better, but it has also never been more expensive. This gets you the cheaper Sky Q 1TB box and the basic Sky TV channels. The cheaper box means you don't get access to Sky 4K content. There are also Box Set and Kids bundles, which are another £5 per month extra each.
You have to sign up to a new 18-month minimum term for the Sky Q Experience and pay the standard full price for the Sky Q Experience (unless you have any offers). We will loan you one Sky Q box, one Sky Q Mini and any other relevant kit, for no cost, for the time you have a Sky TV subscription.
For all the benefits that Sky Q offers, like 12 or so tuners. One of the main downsides is that if you're upgrading to Sky Q from a standard Sky subscription with only a single cable connected. The Q service will not work with a standard Sky installation with a wideband LNB.
Apart from live events*, you can't record UHD programmes. They need to be downloaded from catch up (click on All Formats) or Box Sets in the UHD section.
The basic-level Sky Q package is called Sky Q Entertainment and includes all the basic channels you can get also get through your aerial: BBC One, BBC Two, BBC Four, ITV, ITV2, ITV3, ITV4, Channel 4 and Channel 5. You also get catch-up options for all those channels, plus extras like 5 USA and E4.
The two different storage-sized Sky Q boxes give you different Multiroom perks. With the 1TB Sky Q box, you can connect up to four Mini boxes and watch Sky on two TVs at the same time. Additionally, you'll be able to stream Sky TV, including anything you've recorded, on one device at home.

- Press "Menu" and then "Smart search" on the remote.
- Change the channel to the show you wish to watch.
- Push the "Record" button on the remote to record the show you are watching.
