Standard queen bed dimensions are 60 inches by 80 inches, or 5 feet by 6 feet, 8 inches. As this refers to the dimensions of the mattress itself, you can estimate an additional 2 to 5 inches for the extra bulk of the frame. So, a typical queen bed frame size will likely be between 62-65 x 82-85 inches.
To determine the dimensions of a mattress, measure it from head to foot for the length and from side to side for the width. It may be helpful to measure the depth of the mattress as well, from the bottom where it rests on the box spring to the top.

We advise you purchase a comforter that is the same size, or a bit bigger (~1-2 inches) than the duvet cover. Duvet covers are meant to be washed and will experience fabric shrinkage. So even if your duvet cover measures the same as your comforter, it will likely shrink 3-5% and fit more snugly over your comforter.
A Few Simple TipsTypically, your duvet cover should be filled with a comforter that allows plus or minus two inches in dimension. If you want a snugger fit, then you should purchase a comforter that is bigger than your duvet cover by two inches in both dimensions.
The secret is to buy a duvet insert that's two or three inches to five or six inches larger than the duvet cover. The look will be fluffier, without the extra heat and weight, because of the larger duvet insert placed inside the cover.

Should your duvet be bigger than your bed? You may want to choose a duvet that is one size larger than your actual bed size if: You share a bed or just like more duvet to drape over you - you don't want your other half to roll over and take all the duvet!
LPT: When buying a duvet for your bed, buy one size larger (or more) than your current bed size. The extra duvet will provide greater comfort especially when sharing.
