Christmas in Peru
In the evening, usually after mass, families go home to feast on elaborately prepared dinners and open gifts. At midnight, adults will toast with champagne, while children toast with hot chocolate, and families go outside to watch fireworks displays.The four traditional staples of Peruvian cuisine are corn, potatoes and other tubers, and Amaranthaceaes (quinoa, kañiwa and kiwicha) and legumes (beans and lupins). Staples brought by the Spanish include rice, wheat and meats (beef, pork and chicken).

The Holy Week of 2020, according to the liturgical calendar, will be held between April 5 and April 11, 2020. In Peru, Holy Thursday and Good Friday are national holidays and celebrated on April 9th and 10th. For a good reason, major cities in Peru are popular destinations during Semana Santa.

The libreta contains a page for every month, where the clerk marks what products were withdrawn, and in which quantities. Cubans are required to present the libreta each time they buy the rations.
