To conclude, people are concerned about differentaspects of consumer awareness i.e. their rights and duties,certified products, MRP, date of manufacturing and expiry of theproducts they used, Consumer Courts etc as far as urban areais concerned.

Jago Grahak Jago programme was launched in2005. a. It is a consumer awareness programme which educates peopleabout their rights as a consumer.
Awareness of the program is an issue as higherawareness could have made it much more successful. Accordingto a study of consumer rights in India, just 42 per cent have heardabout consumer rights and almost 50 per cent of consumers are noteven aware about government's 'Jago Grahak Jago'campaign.
"Jago Grahak Jago" is a publicity campaignundertaken by the government to inform the common man about hisrights as a consumer. The campaign specially targets the remote andrural areas. It has been widely publicized through print and visualmedia. Consumers form the largest economic group inIndia.

Consumer education is a significant factorin keeping the economy moving, as it holds companies accountablefor what they sell and how they sell it, and gives consumerscontrol over their purchases. It motivates consumers toprovide feedback that can be used to improve the quality ofproducts and services.
How to Increase Consumer Awareness
- Step 1: Teach customers they do have a problem or need. Makingconsumers aware of a problem can be a little tricky when they don'tknow or care too much about it.
- Step 2: Teach customers the basic solution to the problem. Thisis not a hard or even a soft selling phase.
- Step 3: Here comes the selling.
The definition of Consumer right is 'theright to have information about the quality, potency,quantity, purity, price and standard of goods or services', as itmay be the case, but the consumer is to be protected againstany unfair practices of trade. It is very essential for theconsumers to know these rights.
Consumer awareness refers to the combination ofthe following : (i) The knowledge of the product purchased by theconsumers in terms of its quality. For example theconsumer should know whether the product is good for healthor not, whether the product is free of creating any environmentalhazard or not etc.

The CPA gives the rights to the consumersto be informed about the quality, quantity, potency, standard andprice of goods or services so as to be protected against unfairtrade practices. After the passing of Right to InformationAct (RTI) in 2005, consumers may now seek informationunder this Act.
