The tradition of the Catholic Church highlights four basic elements of Christian prayer: (1) Prayer of Adoration/Blessing, (2) Prayer of Contrition/Repentance, (3) Prayer of Thanksgiving/Gratitude, and (4) Prayer of Supplication/Petition/Intercession.

The name, “Five Graces”, refers to an Eastern concept — the five graces of sight, sound, touch, smell, and taste. Each needs to be honored in the full experience of life.
The definition of grace is poise, elegance, forgiveness, or a blessing. An example of grace is the way a beautiful, stylish woman easily walks across a room. An example of grace is the letting go of a past wrong done to you. An example of grace is the prayer said at the beginning of a meal.
In the dictionary, grace is defined as courteous goodwill. Meaning, it's not asked for nor deserved, but is freely given. Mercy, on the other hand, is the compassion and kindness shown to someone whom it is in one's power to punish or harm. It is an act meant to relieve someone of their suffering.

A grace is a short prayer or thankful phrase said before or after eating. The term comes from the Ecclesiastical Latin phrase gratiarum actio, "act of thanks." Theologically, the act of saying grace is derived from the Bible, in which Jesus and Saint Paul pray before meals (cf. Luke 24:30, Acts 27:35).
[Praying before every meal may not be the universal language and custom, but many Christians do engage in the practice of thanking God before meal or what is termed as “blessing the meal”. Some also call it “saying the grace.”
