Scrape off as much putty as possible. Use icecubes to chill the putty making it easier to scrape away.Saturate a cotton ball with rubbing alcohol and blot the stainedarea. If stain persists, rub liquid dish soap into the stain andwash as normal.
To remove SILLY PUTTY from hair, you maywish to try using baby oil or a generous amount of hairconditioner along with warm water. Massage the product you choosearound the scalp and area containing the Silly Putty andthen gently comb it through. After Silly Putty is removed,wash hair with shampoo.
The more you work it, the softer it will become. Rollthe silly putty with a rolling pin or similar object if yourhands get tired or you find the putty has not softenedenough. Place the putty on a sturdy, clean surface and putas much of your weight as you can on the rolling pin to flatten andsoften the putty.
Although rubbing alcohol is very effective forremoving some types of stains, such as paint, ink or tree sap, itcan also cause stains of its own. The other way that rubbingalcohol can leave stains is that it acts as a mildbleach, as do other forms of alcohol such asvodka or isopropyl alcohol.

- Try an ice cube. First scrape away as much of the stain as youcan.
- First blot some stains on upholstery using a clean, lightlydamp cloth.
Use Vinegar
Once again, scrape away whatever slime you canbefore soaking the stained area with white vinegar.Allow the fabric to sit for five minutes, withoutletting the vinegar evaporate. Afterwards, simply rinse theclothing item in warm water and wash asnormal.Carpet
- Remove the excess slime. If wet, use a paper towel or pick itup with your hands.
- Soak the area in white vinegar.
- Let it soak for 5 minutes. Don't let the vinegar dry orevaporate.
- Run warm water over the area.
- Pat and blot dry with a paper towel. Do not rub.
- Vacuum to remove any leftover particles.
The easiest way to remove dried slime from yourcarpet is with a solution of white vinegar and water.First use a table knife or spoon to gently scrape away as much ofthe dried slime as you can. Mix 2/3 cup white vinegarwith 1/3 cup water. Use a stiff scrub brush to work themixture into the carpet.

Method 2Using Oil-Based Products
- Rub a dollop of oil into the hair. Apply the oil as you wouldshampoo, massaging it into the area with the slime.
- Comb the hair out with a fine-tooth comb. Brush or comb thehair, pulling out the slime as you do.
- Wash the hair with shampoo and conditioner.
Brighten and Whiten Clothes
The acetic acid in distilled white vinegar is somild that it will not harm washable fabrics; yet is strongenough to dissolve residues (alkalies) left by soaps anddetergents. Adding just one-half cup of vinegar to the finalrinse will result in brighter, clearercolors.To remove water-based glue:
- Allow the glue to dry completely.
- Scrape off as many layers of the glue as possible.
- Soak in cold water overnight.
- Remove from the water and massage liquid laundry detergent intothe stain.
- Place in the washing machine as normal and wash on a warmsetting.
First, try to remove any excess glue from thematerial. Then, soak your glue-stained clothing in coldwater for 10 – 15 minutes. This will help to loosen thestain. If the PVA glue stain is dried or old, you can alsorub a small amount of either detergent or washing up liquid intothe stain, then soak it in cold water.
SILLY PUTTY is made primarily from silicone andcolor pigments. Silicone is an oil-based product and by naturewill not dry out. If Silly Putty is leftout of the container over a period of several years, it mayharden due to other ingredients contained in theputty.
Spray with WD-40 and let stand a few minutes. Again,scrape excess Silly Putty with dull knife or metal spoon.Respray with WD-40 and wipe stain with cotton balls. If any stainremains, saturate a cotton ball with rubbing alcohol, blot thestain and rinse.
Remove Silly Putty effectively using a dull knife andWD-40.
- Apply WD-40 on the affected area, spraying a generous amountand covering all of the Silly Putty that is stuck to thesilicone.
- Scrape the putty lightly using a dull knife to see if the puttycomes off.
Remove the old window glazeputty
If the putty is badly cracked, you can pry awaylarge chunks quickly with a putty knife. Putty ingood condition takes longer to remove. With a heat gun inone hand and a stiff putty knife in the other, heat theputty to soften it and gouge it out.Dampen paper towels with warm water and apply liquiddish soap. Use the soapy towel to work over the area in a circularmotion to loosen and remove as much putty aspossible. Spray residue stain with All Purpose cleaner and wipewith paper towels. Repeat as needed.
