High level arcanine can take down a snorlax.
Snorlax overview
Snorlax is one of the strongest Gym defenders, but unlike Blissey it has some offensive potential. Its attack stat is not too high by any means, but it is certainly higher than Blissey's. It has very good bulk and a massive base stamina stat, which makes it a difficult Pokémon to take down in gyms.Your best chance at beating a Snorlax is using your strongest Pokemon (with Vaporeon being the easiest one to pick).
- Arcanine – 45.06 seconds. Fire Fang / Fire Blast.
- Machamp – 49.6 seconds. Karate Chop / Cross Chop.
- Vaporeon – 50.2 seconds. Water Gun / Hydro Pump.

Yes, as Body Slam is no longer legacy on Snorlax. Just be warned that Snorlax now has 7 possible charge moves, so you could potentially burn through a significant chunk of TMs to try and get it. Yawn is the legacy (fast) move. You can TM Body Slam, and all the other charged moves.
Evolution. Snorlax is the evolved form of Munchlax by leveling it up at level 19 with high Happiness.
You will need to breed a female Snorlax with a compatible male Pokémon, with either parent knowing the egg move in question. Alternatively, if you already have a Snorlax with the egg move it can breed with Ditto.
Snorlax resemble a giant stuffed animal vaguely in the shape of a bear or a cat whose eyes always seem to be closed and head markings that resemble Pac-man. All Snorlax does all day is eat and sleep.
- If you have a Male Munchlax with Gluttony, you have to breed it with Ditto to get the Hidden Ability. - If you have a Female Munchlax with Gluttony, you have to breed it with a compatible Male partner in order to get the Hidden Ability.
You're probably wondering if Snorlax with Yawn is any good. Simply said: nope. Yawn does charge your fast move relatively quickly in gym defense, but it doesn't deal any damage, which makes it inferior to any other quick move Snorlax currently has (Lick / Zen Headbutt).
Snorlax is a fat noseless ursid-like Pokémon that has a cream-colored face, hands and feet, while the rest of its body is teal in color. Its head is also large, and it has two small canine teeth visibly protruding from its lower jaw.
Yawn: All Snorlax caught will have the exclusive fast move Yawn, which deals no damage. Keep in mind you should be able to Fast TM the move to a more useful one in the short term if you don't want to keep the Snorlax for collector purposes.
Superpower - It's a powerful Fighting-type attack that charges up quickly but reduces the user's Attack and Defense after being used. Superpower can be learned by Pinsir, Snorlax, Hariyama, Rhyperior, and Melmetal.
IGN described Snorlax as "one of the most powerful Pokémon of all" in its own "peculiar way", noting its high strength and immobility when it decides to sleep. IGN editor "Pokémon of the Day Chick" called Snorlax the "single most popular non-evolver that isn't also a legendary out there".
Snorlax's Abilities
Here are what abilities Snorlax can possibly have, along with their effects. Snorlax cannot be poisoned. The best moveset for Snorlax as a defender is Zen Headbutt and Heavy Slam/Hyper Beam, because Zen Headbutt deals super-effective damage to fighting-types, which are Snorlax's only type weakness.
With tyranitar being a superb counter to the "best" defensive snorlax moveset, heavy slam is a clearly superior defensive move compared to hyperbeam.
Use it after battle to clean up Munchlax and feed it treats, and you'll find that its friendship rises rather quickly. Once its friendship maxes out, it'll evolve into Snorlax the next time it levels up.
