Slack Features
- It's all happening in the channel. Follow along with everything related to individual topics, projects or teams in their dedicated channels.

It's not possible to bulk delete messages. Message deletion is permanent, so please delete with care! Channel messages from bots created for your workspace can be deleted by Workspace Owners and Admins.
Steps
- Click a channel or direct message. They appear in the left column.
- Type the first line of your message. To start typing, click the chat box at the bottom of the window.
- Press ⇧ Shift + ↵ Enter (PC) or ⇧ Shift + ? Return (macOS).
- Type the second line of your message.
- Press ↵ Enter or ? Return .
Guess what, there's a simple solution! When you want to format your message a bit better and add a few more lines of text to enhance a bullet point list of any kind of detailed info, simply hold SHIFT and press RETURN on Mac or ENTER on PC. That's it!
Open the Slack desktop, then click Help in your computer's top menu bar. (If you're on Windows 10, click the ☰ three lines icon in the top left of the Slack app.) Select Troubleshooting, then click Restart and Collect Net Logs. The app will restart.
Build a workflow from scratch in just a few minutes
- Open the menu in a particular Slack workspace, scroll down to Tools, and select Workflow Builder to launch the function.
- Click the Create button to begin the process, and give your workflow a descriptive title.
You can only
move a thread to another channel if you're a team admin or an owner of the channel or thread.
Android
- Open the thread you wish to move.
- Tap the three dots icon in the top-right corner.
- Select Move to another channel.
- Find the channel you want to move the thread to and tap on it.
When you are sending something that deserves a bit more staying power, your best option is to pin the message to the channel. This will keep the message on display on the right sidebar of the Slack channel, immune to being pushed out of view by newer messages.
Hover your mouse over the conversation you'd like to keep track of, right-click, and select "pin". The message will move upwards into the "Pinned" conversations group. By pinning the important conversations, you'll cut down on clutter and distraction.
Pins collect important messages into a list on the sidebar of the chat window, so they can be easily found and accessed. The contents of the Pin list are visible to all group members. Note: The sidebar refers to the area on the right side of a chat. It carries a series of entrances such as Settings, Search and Pin.
To pin apps to the taskbar
- Press and hold (or right-click) an app, and then select More > Pin to taskbar.
- If the app is already open on the desktop, press and hold (or right click) the app's taskbar button, and then select Pin to taskbar.
- Open a channel or direct message (DM).
- To add up to 10 photos, tap the image gallery icon. To add a file, tap the file with clip icon to add a file already shared in Slack, then tap Add a File to upload a file from your device.
- Add a message about your file(s) if you'd like.
- Tap the paper plane icon to send.
The easiest way to pin a message is to open the “Messages” app and then swipe right on a conversation to reveal the “Pin” button. Tap the “Pin” icon to instantly pin the conversation to the top of the screen.
Delete a Pin
- Open the Pinterest app on your device and log into your Pinterest account.
- Tap your profile picture at the bottom-right of your screen.
- Tap on a board.
- Tap on a Pin to open it.
- Tap the ellipsis icon in the bottom-right corner.
- Tap Edit Pin.
- Tap Delete at the bottom of the screen.
- Tap Delete to confirm.
Save a message
- Tap the message you'd like to save.
- Tap the save icon.
Spellcheck in Slack is enabled by default, and will automatically detect the language of the messages you send. In the message field, misspelled words will appear underlined in red.
Click on "Pick a date" and you can quickly scroll back to the beginning of time. Maybe there is an even faster way to get to a specific date or the beginning of a channel using only the URI.
Mark messages as unread
- Hover over a message, hold down the Option key and click your mouse.
- Click the More actions icon next to a message and select Mark unread.
Hitting the INSERT key should toggle it off.
Go to your integrations page at Slack (slack.com/services/new) and scroll down to the bottom section, "DIY Integrations & Customizations". Click on the "Add" button for "Slash Commands". Create the text command itself.

By far, the biggest difference between the two apps is that Slack is easier to set up and administrate. On the other hand, Microsoft Teams is designed for larger enterprise companies and its setup is more complex. In return, it offers excellent integrations with Office 365 applications.
It is free as long as you want a Slack Workspace with an unlimited number of people. In the free slack pricing plans, you don't have to pay a penny but you are restricted with limited features.
