Updating the Software Using Garmin Express
- Connect the device to your computer using the USB cable. When new software is available, the Garmin Express application sends it to your device.
- After the Garmin Express application finishes sending the update, disconnect the device from your computer.
So far the Connect app only links directly to the Garmin golf app after selecting the approach s40. In this Golf app the watch is also linked to the Connect Mobile app for other functions like fitness and wellness.

Garmin releases system software updates periodically. It is recommended to check for updates every 3-4 months to ensure the device has the latest system software.

Garmin's GPS device once sold, has nothing to do with Garmin (apart from map updates/ software updates). So, assuming Garmin went out of business, they won't be provide you with updates. But the GPS device can still function with the existing software and maps.
NOTE: Make sure that your Garmin device is within Bluetooth range of your smartphone and that the Bluetooth setting on your device is not turned off. Either of these factors will result in your Garmin device not connecting to sync with the Garmin Connect App on your smartphone.
Before you can update your device software using the Garmin Connect™ Mobile app, you must have a Garmin Connect account, and you must pair the device with a compatible smartphone (Pairing Your Smartphone). When new software is available, the Garmin Connect Mobile app automatically sends the update to your device.
Disconnect wifi, blue tooth, restart iPhone, restart app. Sync over and over again. The activity data can be found in the watch, just refuse to appear on Garmin connect app or web version. Try to locate and search if there is force sync option, didn't find any.
Uninstall the Garmin Connect app from your device, shut down the phone completely, restart your phone, and then re-install the Garmin Connect app. Re-pair your Garmin device with the Garmin Connect app and try again. If it continues crashing, there is likely a problem with the app update from Garmin.
