- Plug the USB flash drive directly into an available USB port.
- Navigate to the folders in your computer containing files you want to transfer.
- Right-click on the file you want to transfer to your removable disk.
- Click Send To and select the Removable Disk associated with the USB flash drive.

Using an External Drive
Just about any external drive, including a USB thumb drive, or an SD card can be used to transfer your files from one laptop to another. Connect the drive to your old laptop; drag your files to the drive, then disconnect it and transfer the drive contents onto your new laptop.Connect a sufficiently large external hard drive to your old computer and drag-and-drop (or copy-and-paste) all the files you need from your old computer onto the drive. Disconnect the drive from the old computer, connect it to the new computer, and move the files onto the new computer.
