Leave a group
- Sign in to Yahoo Groups.
- Open the group.
- Click Membership | Edit Membership.
- Click Leave Group.
- Click Leave.
You must be registered with Yahoo, Facebook or Google to create or join a group. Registration is free and takes only a few minutes. You'll also have access to other Yahoo services once you've registered your username, such as email, calendar, games and other Yahoo-owned sites like Flickr.
Create a Yahoo account.
- Create an account by going to and clicking “Mail.”

- Choose a username that you do not mind having people see.
- You will use this username and password to log in to Yahoo!
Yahoo offers professionals opportunities to share interests online via its Yahoo Groups network. Some Yahoo groups are public and some are for members only. To gain access to a members-only group, make a request to have an invitation sent to you.
When you open the email thread you would like to leave, look up on the top bar and click on the “More” tab. Once inside, look down at the bottom and click on the “Mute” button. And that's it! Once you click mute, all those unnecessary multiple replies will be archived and will not appear in your Inbox.
Remove myself from distribution list (contact group)
- Shift to the contact folder, and double click to open the specified distribution list where you will remove your own email addresses.
- Select all of your email addresses in the distribution list, and then click the Remove Member button.
In Gmail, look out for an "Unsubscribe" link at the very top of your email, and Gmail will remove you from the mailing list. Gmail now surfaces the "Unsubscribe" link to the top of messages. To leave a distribution group:
- Select Settings > Options > Groups > Distribution groups I belong to.
- Select the distribution group you want to leave.
- Select Leave .
Define the Distribution List
- On the Home Page, click Address Book to open your Address Book.
- Click the list below Address Book, and then select Contacts.
- On the File menu, click New Entry.
- Under Select the entry type, click New Contact Group.
- Under Put this Entry, click In The Contacts.
- Click OK.
To leave a Group in Outlook 2016 for which you are NOT the sole administrator, click the drop-down box in the bar above the Inbox and Reading panes. It should be labeled “Subscribed” or “Joined.” Alternatively, click the “Membership” button in the Group name button group and choose “Leave” from the list of options.
Google Groups makes it easy for groups of people—such as project teams, departments, or classmates—to communicate and collaborate. You can send an email to everyone in a group with one address, invite a group to an event, or share documents with a group.
Yahoo Groups is shutting down: Act soon or lose all your old photos, message history. "You'll have until that date to save anything you've uploaded," Yahoo said in its announcement. Files, polls, links and photos will disappear from the website along with folders, attachments and almost everything else, Yahoo said.
Alternatives to Yahoo Groups
- Google Groups. Google groups is similar to Yahoo groups. It's free.
- Facebook Groups. Facebook groups are a popular alternative.
- Forums. You could migrate to a forum as one of many alternatives to Yahoo groups.
- Listservs. You could use a listserv, sometimes called a listserve or an email discussion group.
New Delhi: After nearly two decades of operations, Yahoo Groups is shutting down and users who still have data on the once popular groups have time till December 14 to save them. The Verizon-owned tech company has disabled uploading of content on the Yahoo Groups site.
What will happen to the Groups experience? You'll still be able to send and receive emails to your group, which will include sending and receiving attachments. In addition, admins will continue to have limited access to group settings and administration tools.
