EPS (short for Encapsulated PostScript) is avector format designed for printing to PostScript printers andimagesetters. It is considered the best choice of graphics formatfor high resolution printing of illustrations. EPS files arecreated and edited in illustration programs such as AdobeIllustrator or CorelDRAW.
To trace the image using a tracing preset,click the Tracing Presets and Options button in the Controlpanel, and select a preset. To trace the image usingthe default tracing options, click Live Trace in theControl panel, or choose Object > Live Trace >Make.
Choose Object > Image Trace > Make totrace with default parameters. Illustrator convertsthe image to black and white tracing result by default.Click the Image Trace button in the Control panel or theProperties panel, or select a preset from the TracingPresets button ( ).
To remove the background from an image inAdobe Illustrator, use the Pen or the Magic Wand tool tooutline the foreground object. Then, right-click the image andselect “Make Clipping Mask”. From here it's easy to"remove" the background and incorporate your imageinto websites or other creative projects.
A character style includes characterformatting attributes, and can be applied to characters, aparagraph, or even a range of paragraphs. You can createCharacter styles and then apply them later. Choose Window> Character Styles to open the Character Stylespanel.
To access the Character panel, press Command-T(Mac) or Control-T (Windows). You can also choose Window > Type& Tables > Character. After the panel comesup, click on the flyout menu in the upper right corner and chooseShow Options. This will give you access to every item in thepanel.

Create superscripts or subscripts in regularfonts
- Select the type you want to change. If you don't select anytype, any new text you create will be rendered as superscripts orsubscripts.
- Choose Superscript or Subscript from the Character panel menu.You can access the Character panel from the Control panel.
To open the Glyphs Panel, go to Window →Type → Glyphs . Click on a glyph to select it;double-click to insert it in the line of text. Illustratorplaces the character wherever your blinking text cursor islocated.
Shift the baseline
- Select the characters or type objects you want to change. Ifyou don't select any text, the shift applies to new text youcreate.
- In the Character panel, set the Baseline Shift option.
Approach #1: press and release the ALT key. InternetExplorer showing the menu bar in response to pressing ALT.This will make the menu toolbar appear temporarily,and you can use the keyboard or mouse to access it normally, afterwhich it goes back into hiding.
How to create a new toolbar
- On the View menu, point to Toolbars, and then clickCustomize.
- Click the Toolbars tab, and then click New.
- In the Toolbar Name box, type a name for your new customtoolbar.
- In the Make toolbar available to box, click the template oropen document where you want to store the toolbar.
- Click OK.

- To see the menu, press Alt.

There are four main groups of tools, separated byfunctionality on the Tools panel: selection, cropping, andmeasuring; retouching and painting; drawing and type; andnavigation. At the bottom of the Tools panel you find Setforeground color and Set background color, as well as QuickMask.
To hide or show all panels, including thetoolbar and Control panel, press Tab. To hide or showall panels except the toolbar and Control panel, pressShift+Tab. Tip: You can temporarily display hidden panels ifAuto-Show Hidden Panels is selected in Interfacepreferences. It's always on in Illustrator.
Select a tool
Click a tool in the Tools panel. If thereis a small triangle at a tool's lower right corner, holddown the mouse button to view the hidden tools. Thenclick the tool you want to select.Some tools in the Tools panel display asmall black triangle in the lower-right corner to indicate that thetool has additional related but hidden tools. Toselect a hidden tool, click and hold down the mouse buttonto display the menu; then select the tool that youwant.
