Since the Apple Pencil has a lightning port connector where most other pencil erasers would be, select the Eraser tool when you need to wipe part of your sketches away. Pressing the full width of the Apple Pencil's tip against the screen will erase a large circle.
One thing to check is the Actions menu (wrench icon) under Prefs > Gesture controls. Tap the Smudge tab on the left there and make sure Apple Pencil is turned off. If that doesn't help, it's possible it's a hardware issue with your Pencil, as failing to Erase is one of the ways the problem can show up.
To delete a custom or duplicate brush, swipe to the left on the brush thumbnail to reveal the Share/Duplicate/Delete menu. To delete a custom brush set, tap the brush set icon and the Rename/Delete/Share/Duplicate menu will come up. Note that you can't delete the default brushes and brush sets that come with Procreate.
3) There is no automatic backup. That Storage Location option in iPad Settings under Procreate relates to the Procreate folder in Files app, and whether it's contents are stored on the iPad or on iCloud. Files only go into that folder if you send them there, by exporting them or using Drag-and-Drop, for example.
Procreate files are located inside the Procreate app. They won't be available in Files or iTunes unless you export them there.

Even if you have storage set to iCloud, the files still have to be copied out to a safe location - if you don't and for some reason you lost access to your iPad, or if Procreate was deleted from it, you would lose access to all those files.

Procreate is $9.99 to download. There's no subscription or renewal fee. You pay for the app once and that's it. (It gets a little more enticing every month when you have to pay that Adobe subscription renewal.)
Procreate is also marketed more heavily as digital painting tool than image manipulation / photo editing tool. While photoshop can certainly do that, it is not their primary role. Photoshop is more of system than just application after all even on current desktop platform.
You can use any capacitive or magnetic field passive stylus with Procreate, without the need for a Bluetooth connection.
