A MEDIEVAL sword found embedded in a rock at the bottom of a Bosnian river is being hailed as 'Excalibur'. The 700-year-old weapon is being compared to King Arthur's legendary magical sword because of similarities in how it was discovered. It was found 36 feet underwater embedded in solid rock.

Arthur's actions fit the conventions of medieval romance through magical elements, when he pulls the sword from the stone; generosity, when he give the sword to Kay; loyalty, when he affirms Ector's fatherhood and bestows a rank upon Kay; and kindness, when he offers to grant any request from Ector.
Le Morte d'Arthur tells the story of King Arthur and his Knights at the Round Table. Although the war requires several battles, Arthur and his knights win and return to Guinevere and the other wives. Soon after, Launcelot establishes himself as the greatest knight in all the world by his virtue, loyalty, and bravery.
How does Sir Kay end up with the Sword? Arthur gave Sir Kay the sword because he was missing his sword. He could have said straight away that Arthur drew the sword from the stone but instead he chose to claim the sword. He shows his skills during the tournament.

Morgan returns him to her castle by enchantment, and there the four ladies demand that he choose one of them or die. Launcelot refuses to choose any lady, and is saved by a maiden in return for his promise to help her father, Sir Bagdemagus, in his tournament. They fight, and Launcelot wounds the knight.
That a king will come and unite Britain into one peaceful land. That the King of Cornwall will murder Merlin within the year. That the wars and fighting will continue for many generations. That Uther Pendragon will die in an upcoming battle.
Chapter 2 1. How does Sir Ector get Sir Kay to tell the truth about the sword? He asks him to put it back and re-pulls it out.

He receives gifts from all over England. One day, Merlyn appears magically before him. He tells the Wart that the Wart's father was Uther Pendragon and that Merlyn was the one who first brought the Wart to Sir Ector's castle as an infant. In the three chapters that conclude Part 1, White presents the complex symbol of the sword in the stone. In Chapter 22 the author gives a description of the sword, including its inscription. He explains that the person who pulls the sword out of the stone will be the King of England.
Most notably, the showrunner confirms that Merlin and Arthur did indeed grow to love each other by the end of the series, calling it a “pure” love. “We did, very genuinely, think of the episode as a love story between two men.

So she breaks up with Arthur. No cheating, just her heart pulling her another another way. This story should have taken place over several episodes, or even seasons.
The decision to end the show with Arthur's deathHe also reveals that their plan had been to kill Arthur all along – even back when the show served as a prequel to the legends as opposed to telling the legends themselves. “What we decided to do was to tell the legend how it was in many ways,” Murphy says.
Merlin is called Emrys because that was the name that was given to him when he was born in Caer-Fyrddin. Later he became known as Merlin, which is a Latin translation of the Welsh word Myrddin. Merlin's enemies said that his father was an evil spirit who impregnated his mom while she was sleeping.
Morgana became evil because Uther was persecuting people who had magic such as herself. Because of this she believed that she was better suited to the throne than Arthur but of course that could never happen naturally so she'd have to take it by force, killing both Uther and Arthur in the process.
Merlin canceled, no season six.
Though their courtship was complicated by their differing social classes (and later by interference from Morgana), they were ultimately married in the final episode of series 4. As of Arthur's death in the series finale, Gwen is now his widow and rules Camelot in his stead.
